Social injustice, when I am feeling that it's just too much to bear.

Flashbacks. Experiencing a flashback is the only thing that makes me cry, and, thankfully, I experience them more rarely than before.

Carl Sagan's speech on nuclear war in the Cosmos episode "Who Speaks For Earth" always makes me tear up. Anything like that which in a well-written, semi-poetic, yet rational way describes our apparent failure as a species and the (IMO) hopelessness of our existence.

Always when animals or kids suffer, and recently I discovered also when seeing lists of soldiers who have died. Most commonly PMS, though. Lol.

The medal ceremonies at the Olympics - guaranteed lump in throat.

Intensely sad movies (think Dancer in the Dark or Once Were Warriors)

Heartbreak

Losing family members - the worst though? Seeing little kids lose a mother or father. So sad because they are so confused.

Helpless rage always makes me cry.

Sometimes when I'm at home alone very late at night I'll have a good long cry because it's cathartic somehow.

And when I'm PMS-ing - who the hell knows?!! The waterworks can start with a fucking Hallmark commercial. lol. Damn hormones.

BUT, I can count on one hand the number of people who have actually witnessed me crying. It's an intensely personal thing.

Mostly nothing. I guess I woundn't even know what would make me cry.

Last time I cried was when my father died. It started 21:06 and ended 21:11.
Haven't cried like that for years.

Sometimes, unfair treatment from a trusted individual.

Especially if I treated them well.

illogical suffering and violent misunderstandings. especially when im the culprit who inflicts them. but also when i can't do anything about them.

on a happier note, fantastical sacrificial heroism. like bruce willis in Armageddon. maybe that wasn't so happy. at least its not depressing.

I don't cry often. Once a year, maybe.

About a year ago I read a story about a kid trying to send her dog who'd just died a letter, and someone at the post office sent the kid a plushie and wrote her a letter from the dog saying goodbye from heaven.

I teared up. It'd been so long (a couple years) since I'd cried, I thought I was having an allergic reaction and took a benadryl and then realized that there were tears on my face...

*isn't in touch with her emotions at all... not even a little*

I cried last year when my dog got really injured and I had to take him to get put down. I don't remember the time before that, but I think it was when I broke up with a chick and tossed her (metaphorically) out of my car randomly in town. I don't like crying. It feels like I'm choking or coughing, and it makes me uncomfortable. Crying when you get an illness or injured is alright though, especially when you get ripped on pain meds.

Me, too! I hate crying, so I'm glad it doesn't happen to me often. My eyes get all itchy and I end up dehydrated and exhausted, not to mention, my nose and cheeks and chest & the sides of my neck go all red, which is really just adding insult to injury, because not only am I physically uncomfortable, but I also look silly.

Very few things make me cry. I allow way too many things, to bring me to tears. However those tears ducts are there for a reason.

Death doesn't seem to do it for me. Except for death of pets, then I come undone.

I cry at weddings, graduations, or anything nostalgic. I cry often at movies. Sometimes because of an overly sentimental scene, but often when a story is just too perfect or beautiful. I cry when I think about the progress my students or kids have made.

I am generally very embarrassed by this and fight as hard as possible to not let on that I'm welling up inside. I'd rather draw blood biting my lip than let someone see me crying at a movie, etc. When alone I'll let myself go and it is very therapeutic.

A wide variety of things will now bring me to tears or crying. However, in the past that wasn't true and I scarcely ever cried. I was like that for decades.

I think I prefer feeling more able to cry although I absolutely despise crying in front of someone else. I cried publicly recently. Nightmare.

My friend played a joke on me the other day making me think that one of my mentors secretly hates me, but is superficially nice to me.

It made me cry for some reason.

Hopelessness makes me cry occasionally. I can't think of times that I have cried without feeling hopeless.

That's a valid reason. Trusting someone like that (a mentor) and then finding out they think you're a joke hurts.

I argue with someone completely illogical (usually my mother) -->

Said person repeats his/her argument multiple times without listening to mine at all. Begins using emotional blackmail to get his/her way -->

I back out from the argument when it becomes clear said person is not going to be reasonable. Said person follows me while making personal attacks on my character -->

I get angry at said person. Said person scolds me for "inappropriate behavior" -->

Furious tears.
