Okay, so I just officially got accepted to an extremely good art school, it's not one that most have heard of but it's produced some amazing artists, and the student work I've seen is pretty impressive as well. Unfortunately, my first classes won't begin until the fall semester, so I need something to keep my skills up. I'm thinking of starting a weekly art thing, maybe a blog or something, not sure yet. That's where you come in. How should I do this?

My main medium is computer art, though I dabble in pencil, conte, and ink. I've started developing a style that suits my personality for my drawn figures but I'm all in all not that creative when I sit down and start drawing, I make it much more of a constructive process than an artist should. I'm not pretentious enough to call myself an artist though, until someone else recognizes my work as art, I will not refer to myself as such. Generally I try to make my work serious, have some sort of basic message, have at least mild expression.

So, how should I do this?

Hurry up and get to your point. The noises in my head are more amusing than the noises you're making.

In the Pictures Forum, there is an Art Thread. You could post pictures there. Or, you could start a blog and post your artwork there along with whatever commentary you'd like to include.

I don't want to post my work here, I do however want to have my work available to potential employers. So a blog would probably be the way to go I guess. I really don't know jack about blogging though, and I'm not interested in getting into posting shit I don't care about just to get a post in for the week. A friend of mine and I once did a daily thing where we would both sit down and just draw, tv on, music on, construction outside; constant sensory overload, but it was effective, I got quite a bit better. I no longer have the time to sit down daily and do this, but weekly I could manage.

Any experience with blogging?

Oh, I misunderstood what your intentions were. I thought you meant post your work here. Sorry. No, I've never done any blogging myself and am unable to offer any useful comments. There are lots of knowledgeable folks in the Member Blogs, Cooper, plotthickens, Rachel45 for instance who might be able to offer some insight.

I'm a painter and have finally posted 4 of my paintings here because people asked to see them. That's why I suggested you post here.
