You are repeating yourself while failing to acknowledge the point in the quote.

Criteria for being anorexic:
"•Refusal to maintain body weight at or above a minimally normal weight for age and height: Weight loss leading to maintenance of body weight <85% of that expected or failure to make expected weight gain during period of growth, leading to body weight less than 85% of that expected. •Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, even though under weight. •Disturbance in the way one's body weight or shape are experienced, undue influence of body weight or shape on self evaluation, or denial of the seriousness of the current low body weight. •Amenorrhea (at least three consecutive cycles) in postmenarchal girls and women. Amenorrhea is defined as periods occurring only following hormone (e.g., estrogen) administration." Basically, keeping yourself underweight is considered anorexic. Contrary to what men think, all women are not supposed to be under 100 pounds. Only very short women can be under 100 and not be underweight. I have friends that I know they are anorexic. They think they are fat, afraid of gaining weight and their legs are about 10" around or less-probably less. Men tell me all the time that women should be as small as they are. I don't know their weight, but they are small and they pick at their food and barely eat. I have been at the dinner table with these girls and they eat like 300 calories for a holiday dinner. Another thing you may not realize is that Anorexia is a substantially larger problem in Israel than it is in the US, actually, in the Jewish community as a whole, I saw a statistic of 30% higher rate of anorexia. It happens especially with unmarried women. Usually women gain weight after getting married.

I know what anorexia nervosa is. I asked why are you so obsessed about it. And, you give me more information about it as if you are making me aware of this eating disorder.
By the way, I think you indirectly answered this by revealing that you have been viewing this from an Israeli angle. It makes sense why this is such a sensitive subject for you. However, this conversation has gone nowhere fast. Maybe this thread will turn into something. No clue.

It's not healthy for women to be underweight, yet we have a landslide of men looking for women BELOW healthy weight and deeming women who are a healthy weight as fat and chubby. I have even seen people call the top of underweight chubby. Someone did it on the INTJ forum.

Not me, I like hips and a booty! Skinny girls are too bony and that's just uncomfortable. |

If only more men were attracted to you, life would be much simpler. |

I don't know if it was pointed out but anorexia is generally a symptom of a deeper problem and it's not about being attractive or thin or healthy it's generally about poor self image and anorexia is usually a type of self-punishment for feeling like a terrible person. |

Also it can be from a need to control something in your life. If you are put in a situation which you have no control, such as child abuse, you tend to value things you can, such as food intake.
---------- Post added 12-06-2011 at 10:28 AM ---------- I just remembered, Nicole, not all men like women who are skinny and/or underweight. I am medically underweight due to a genetic condition, but its irrelevent, I just happen to be underweight as do an anerxic. I have had 5 men and 2 girls turn me down just because 'you're too skinny its freaky', 'you're really sick', 'I do not like touching you, its like skin and bones'. That would not just be the single reason, but part of it non the less. No, not all men like underweight chicks, you're statement was sweeping and unfair. |

This is a bunch of bullshit. Weight is completely irrelevant. You should be looking at body composition.
If you can find me a single guy on this board that wants his woman under 100 pounds I'd be absolutely shocked.
Arghhhh, that be my booty, matey... |

This is a good point but it's not as relevant for women as for men since they are much less likely to have significant variation in muscle mass to the degree that men do. BMI tends to be fairly accurate for women, almost completely useless for men. |

These women with the great ass-ets and toned bodies dont get them through starvation, alot of these beautiful actresses and singers that all the men want will eat 2,000 or 3,000 calories a day easy to keep in shape. They eat good and then they move around.

I concur. My BMI is 25, which is just a number. Because I exercise, I have a lot more lean muscle (mostly in my legs) than most people my height. Just looking at me, many people guess I weigh a lot less than I do, usually by about 30 pounds. That and my head is super dense.
Well I also like short girls so five feet tall and 90 pounds is still pretty normal. |
