The most interesting part:

A New York Times expose published Sunday details the improper ties between Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and influential rightwing funder and activist Harlan Crow.

Crow is a major contributor to conservative causes and a stalwart supporter of Clarence Thomas. In past years he gave Thomas' wife, Ginni Thomas, $500,000 to exploit the Citizens United decision and start a shadowy, Tea Party-related group called Liberty Central. He gave Thomas a Bible (estimated value $15,000) that once belonged to Frederick Douglass, and reportedly provided the Supreme Court Justice with access to his yacht and private jet.

As if that wasn't enough, the New York Times has revealed that Thomas solicited a multi-million dollar donation from Crow to benefit one of his own pet projects near his birth place in a remote coastal community outside Savannah, Georgia.

He could have recused himself from any case in which a conflict of interest was likely... but didn't.
And considering the Supreme Court basically runs the USA; corruption at this level should not be tolerated.

Disregarding the charged rhetoric of the petition (it's enough to make Ray9 proud of a Liberal); what's the feeling on this ?

One of the biggest delusions foisted on the American people, and sadly embraced by many, is the notion that the justices on the Supreme Court are above politics: that they are pure, fair, and impartial: and that they hear cases with an open mind and do not enter the court with prejudices and pre-judgments.

The reality is that they are political actors, selected through a highly politicized process, and chosen for their very ability to fulfill roles and renders judgements along predicatable, political lines.

If the Justices prejudices and presumed pre-judgements were not already well known, most would not have been nominated in the first place.

hahaha that's so ironic that that actually happened. he's such a stereotype of a conservative judge. i think it's hilarious that he hasn't spoken in an argument or written an opinion in something like 5 years. what a mockery he makes of the judicial system.

Me? I don't know... first time I've really heard of any Justice getting this sort of attention.

It's of course getting run in Liberal circles; but not national attention. I think national attention is the only way He gets pressure to step down.

It's not my Country, so It's not a big deal to me personally. I do think that Justices are supposed to be above this kind of thing, and it tweaks a bit of a conspiracy bone in me to hear about it. Is this guy owned by certain folks? Maybe... And if He's owned, who else is owned?
