I'm interested in participating in as many design competitions as I can in order to challenge myself and simultaneously beef up my portfolio, so I'm hoping someone here can offer more information on any legit organizations that are hosting any. They must be open to students/non-professionals since that's what I am.

I'm mostly looking for landscape design projects, as I'm an aspiring landscape architect, but I know about architecture too, so I am open to doing architectural competitions as well. I already know about Open Architecture Network and just registered for a competition there.

I'm also interested in:
- Illustration/drawing/art/graphic design contests
- Writing contests (poetry or prose)
- Photography contests
- Any other sort of competition you think I may be interested in.

Maybe this is a long shot, but any help is appreciated, even if I've already come across any in Google and such. Thanks!

I am an architecture student, and I entered and was awarded a merit citation in a competition.
These are mostly architecture competitions if you are interested

Thank you! That is a good one.

I've also discovered a couple other web sites last night that list competitions, though these aren't really architecture-related:
