I've noticed that when I type, that I forget words. It doesn't happen when I write, only when I type.
For example: "I wonder if there others who have this problem." I left out "are". I've noticed that I do this a lot when I type, and I don't usually notice it, until I re-read what I have typed. It irks me because I look at the screen when I type, not the keyboard, and I'm aware that I do this, so I pay careful attention so as to not do it, and I still do it. I type the word out in my head, but it's as if the signal fails to reach my fingers. So I was wondering if anyone else within the forums has this annoying little problem also? I can't help but wonder if it's more common amongst INTJ's.

I do that off and on - and sometimes I'll type complete and complex words in the wrong order (which isn't simple dyslexia). But I think much faster than I type, or write for that matter - and I tend to skip ahead and let my hands try to keep up.

I do this all the time. Even if I reread something I've written multiple times, I'll often realize later on that I completely excluded a certain word (or words). I tend to not pick up when other people skip over words, too. It's even worse when I'm chatting through an instant message system, since I'm much less meticulous about my IMs than I am about my forum posts. Needless to say, I make a lot of typos.

Very frequently.
And actually, I didn't even realize there was anything missing in your sentence until I read the next one. |

I do. I think it's because sometimes thinking something is very akin to doing it.

I do this, but more frequently when I'm writing by hand my brain gets ahead of me and I smoosh woords together into curious portmanteaus. "That one goes over there" becomes "That one gover there."

I do this quite a bit, which can be problematic, as I write for a living. It's a facet of thinking faster than I type for me (though I'm a fast typer, too). As I'm typing one sentence, I'm already composing the next sentence in my head, and sometimes I leave out words in my efforts to get my hands to catch up with my brain.

Absolutely, especially when the topics are complex, requiring detailed explanations. It is not just with missed words, but also with verb tenses and subject verb agreements. Ugh. I hate that. But, if I spend too much time on grammar, then I get frustrated and not post anything at all. It is a give and take on these: subpar grammar for complex thoughts, or perfecting grammar to the point of not posting them at all. Squeezing out my interconnected and speeding thoughts is bad enough, you want perfect grammar on top of that?!
Perhaps, one day, I might be able to reach that perfect combination. For now, tolerate me, tolerate my mis-behaved grammar. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. |

No. I admit to being rather obsessed with my posts being presented in a way that feels good to me. There can't be any spelling or grammatical errors. I check before and after I submit them.

All the time, it's annoying as I have to re-read my sentences before I hit enter... I think I have an issue with changing or expressing my syntax/ideas midway through the sentence that causes errors as well.

Yes! I do this quite often too, and it's just as annoying as missing a word. Anyone else type the same word twice? |

Constantly, especially if my brain is performing quite well...
The luxury of having important text being peer-reviewed has made this tendency quite worse for me, I think... |
