Hello, moderators. I had a question with regards to my comment in the "Turned off by 'macho men'" thread in the Relationships section of the forum.

I don't recall exactly what I posted, but I do know that it was along the same line as the other commenters; many have suggested that the terms "macho men" (among others) means different things to different people, in the hopes the OP would elucidate. Was my meaning lost? How did it come about that my post was deleted? Can you shed some more light on this for me, please?

Thanks for your time.

Is it deleted? I think it is online (again).

Hi Silence,

I deleted a post of yours from that thread stating

I really can't even begin to comment until we agree on certain terms.

It's difficult to see content in a post talking about the discussion itself, rather than the topic of discussion, in a way that doesn't move either forward. Agreement on terms rarely if ever happens, and you didn't propose any definitions nor even specify which terms you meant. The sentiment is more or less equivalent to "I really can't even begin to comment until the heat death of the universe," or essentially "I can't comment in this thread." If you'd like to propose some definitions for the terms involved, by all means.

I think that is being ridiculously unreasonable. That topic was unreasonably vague and did need clarification on what people meant. Everyone else did it too, they just didn't come out and say it. This is being deletionist just for the sake of deleting posts.

Thank you for clarifying, cannotseethe. I think I understand- that's one of those statements of mine that tends to benefit from a host of nonverbal communications that I throw with it, in conversation. It doesn't translate very well in a text-based environment, does it?

I understood it just fine. I think some of the mods just don't understand anything not explicitly put in text.

That's good to know. I often wonder if what I am saying sounds anything like what I am thinking.

To put it bluntly-the moderator disagrees with you. Best get used to having your beliefs challenged via tactics involving mis/ab-use of authority.

BINGO!

With the previous posts and this one I've got "trigger happy mods", "they don't get it", "biased", and I'm totally taking "misuse and abuse of powers" as separate squares for Bingo.

Thanks for playing everybody. Next week we will be calling from card 5. Card 5, everyone.
