HA, that reminds me of myself. I never liked to tell other people about who I was in a relationship because it was more special to me to just have it involve only we two. As soon as whoever I was with would start telling other people about it I would think, "Well... this has turned into something completely different." It goes from an interaction between two people to being part of this whole communal thing where there are expectations, traditions and obligations that neither person really wants. Fuck that.

I guess they were just looking to crash at the house for the night.

I think it's a self defense mechanism, the "you weren't worth my time anyay" type.
