I didn't know women's periods attract bears. That's frightening should there be a need to be out in the wilderness with a woman. Thanks for the heads-up!

OK then, but your post seems at odds with itself/your interpretation of the thread then.

Was this response directed at my post? If so what does (TM) signify?

Hey, we already know I lean more conservative than you, so please do not interpret this with nefarious motive.

What is your take/rebuttal/response to those who point out that despite Newtown acting as the catalyst for the current iteration of the gun debate, much/most/all of the proposed policy changes have little to no effect on mass shooting incidents by those without previous records and such, but rather appear targeted to stop run of the mill gun violence?

I mean, I could imagine a rahm Emanuel "never let a good crisis go to waste" line of thought, and it certainly makes a degree of sense in the current political environment.

of course, maybe the very basis for the question itself is false, etc.

    I'll take it

I would like to think I'm always coherent and mostly consistent, or recognize when someone points out that I'm not. Of course, I'm sure most people think that of themselves (if they care anyway).

Highly recommend adding Introject to your ignore list. Makes reading the politics forum a whole lot less dumb.

I agree, the the elephant in the room are extrajudicial killings on foreign soil. If this was happening in the US, initiated by a foreign nation, killing suspected "terrorists" (along with the occasional wedding party)
it'd be considered an act of war by a large portion of the nation.

The value I see here with Paul's pony show is the possibility of encouraging additional discussion or getting the white house to say anything substantial. It's disturbing how quiet Congress has been about the entire situation. If it takes Paul's fears about drone use in Kentucky to get other members of the legislative branch to start asking legitimate questions, I'm willing to accept that.

Rep. Barbra Lee has requested a full release of the administration's drone policy. If enough members of congress start pushing perhaps we can get an actual policy discussion going.

At this point I'll accept any sort of political pressure that might force the executive branch to openly explain why extrajudicial killings are acceptable. Even if the pressure revolves around something as myopic as Rand's position it's better than nothing. I wish Kucinich could have ended up in the Senate...
