I love both the series ending and the EoE ending. The series ending showed 3rd impact from the subjective state of shinji while the EoE ending showed what an external perspective. I for loved the happy ending of the series. For me,the heart of the story was Shinji and the "hedgehogs dillemma". I also got into the series at a point in my life where I was worse off than I am now( still not in a great place yet,sadly). I also identified strongly with Shinji at that stage in my life,but also with Asuka ironically enough. It certainly has a powerful effect with people,especially those who experience genuine depression exhibited by Shinji. You have had to gone through the same emotions and pain as Shinji did to truly appreciate eva to it's zenith imho. After all, Anno based Shinji on himself and used it as catharsis to help overcome his own depression. When you say it changed your view point on life I'm assuming you mean it's exisential message?

Thanks. Some interesting opinions there. Rei definitely has repressed feelings and Misato definitely has bi polar,and maybe even borderline traits, so it's especially hard to judge them. Weirdly enough, I read an interview from Anno and he said all the main eva characters are introverts. I find that hard to believe. I can imagine Asuka as an ambivert/supressed introvert, as she tends to be social to boost her fragile self esteem via narcissistic supply rather than a genuine love of people/socialising, but Misato as an introvert seems a big stretch of the imagination. Then again,considering evas emotionally/psychologically broken cast assigning personality types to them is always going to be difficult.

What personality types do you think the eva characters are? My guess
