Your avatar is very beautiful! And I don't know who the artist is for mine, it just happened to be on a random blog. Who's the artist for yours? I may steal more pics from him/her for my pinterest!

    Alex and Charlie yay!

They're just so adorable. In my opinion, Alex is ENTP and Charlie is INFP. Rare male INFP's yayy!

    And no problem

I just finished Small Gods the other night, and now it is definitely in my top three. My other two favorites are Going Postal and Feet of Clay.

I can see that. Complete freedom and no freedom kind of amounting to the same thing in what at least in that moment feels like an arbitrary existence. And something about that kind of existence implies a kind of ending, over the rail or off the cliff.

People talk about nausea in those moments, following Sartre I suppose, but the sensation for me is a little closer to dizziness.

I know what you mean with the driving. It sometimes involves driving and bridges for me, sometimes oncoming traffic. Again, not the compulsion, but the anxiety arising from consciousness of the possibility of the compulsion.

Hmm. I will need to think about whether or not I connect the fear of compulsion feeling to that strangeness/randomness experience (as in Sartre's Nausea and Nabokov's "Terror") or to the occasional sense I have that a familiar person is no longer familiar. I hadn't made the connection before, but I'm intrigued.

Maybe! I've either read of someone else having the experience or have seen someone talk about it on TV (most likely read about it), but usually when I talk about the feeling people just look at me all, well, weird. It makes me less lonely and weird-feeling knowing that you've known the weirdness, too. :-)

I did find this discussion about a feeling that's close to what I'm talking about. It's not very illuminating, but it might mean that we're not bonkers, or not quite so alone in our bonkerdom.
