That time it was chemically induced. Other times I've had it spontaneously like during sleep paralysis. I've noticed that simply wearing earplugs helps. Real life keeps me busy so I don't always have time to try and achieve that state when I sleep but the next step is just to overcome fear and try to have an OBE.
I've done the same thing. It seems reminiscent of Borderline Disorder, for me at least, I'm not sure in your case, but it may be something to look into (writing people off for the slightest transgression).
Yeah, I've seen others describe the sensation that the body vibrates when the vibrations are intense. Last time I got it I laid there listening to them, focusing on it. Some are high-pitched buzzing, others are low-pitched and jarring. The sound seems to move like it does when someone speaking to you moves across the room. Then suddenly I got a strong hypnagogic jerk and was violently spat out from that state.
