This, I cannot stress how much win this is for you to have made it into words. I am envious that you were able to do so.

Because, I found that the greatest decisions we make are from emotion and logic, combined; not with exclusion of either.

I have developed my Fe, and worked very hard at it. I am a core INTP, however. The door is very complicated. The key I have found: Find who you are, what your meaning of life is, and something to believe in.

(With respect to the 'belief that anyone is capable of anything' thought):
Limitations in how far I will go out of my way to help people - yes definitely.
Limitations for myself, well, that's the punch line! Probably, but this tends to be something I only figure out in retrospect (sadly).

Aw, thanks. I was going through avatars like toilet paper for quite a while before I settled on him and it may be permanent.

I guess you probably don't know the story about him, then. I think he was a German living under Nazi rule, but he was a gentile married to a Jewish woman. So eventually he was thrown in a camp because of this for a time.

For a long time he was unknown in that picture, until I think his daughter or somebody recognized him. He has a name, but I can't remember what it is.

It's a perfect pic for me, goes along with my political beliefs, my personality, my love of vintage pictures like that....

I think there's something specific to the level of communication of our times that enables easy access to wide varieties of strangeness that don't manifest so much in our daily lives, or are well hidden. Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess, but often head-scratchingly baffling.

You bet: The Devil's Dictionary. Some samples:

POLITICS, n. A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage.

POLITICIAN, n. An eel in the fundamental mud upon which the superstructure of organized society is reared. When he wriggles he mistakes the agitation of his tail for the trembling of the edifice. As compared with the statesman, he suffers the disadvantage of being alive.

For a work written in 1881, amazing how things never change...
    INTJ, do you think?

It was a pretty movie. Which sources that the movie offered did you find most compelling? Pretty movies are like pretty girls. Some are smart and others are dumb as a box of rocks.

I'm suggesting checking facts before repeating them is important if you want to be taken seriously.

Ha! Ha! Yes, these things bring people out of the woodwork. Unfortunately, we have a cadre of lurkers that seem to make appearances for little else; this would be OK, but they tend to be condescending, vulgar, and not really interested in the thread topic. This is what I mean by a "mugging"; three or four of these guys will show up at more or less the same time and post a barrage of challenges that can't possibly be fielded by one person. It destroys the thread.

This kind of uncivil behavior has made rational discussion of religion virtually impossible here. You will not see anyone here engaged in cordial discussion of shared convictions; the goons won't allow it, and NO ONE WILL STOP THEM.

Oh... I'm sorry about the threatening tone of my comment to you; I didn't realize it was someone I knew.

You don't have to drop the topic (which is quite interesting). I'm just in mother hen mode right now, suggesting that it probably doesn't fit in this thread.

And I fully understand the "I couldn't help myself"; I live there... Hee! Hee!
