Ha ha. those are hilarious ways of describing those, especially Mirrai Nikki. Aren't you forgetting a little about the "complications" involved. Oh this post...

I really enjoy reading your posts. You should come around more. I know it has degraded some since you have come, but that is probably because of the large growth in members lately. It also may be so because the regulars have said most there is to be said and became stagnant.(Though I doubt that is ever possible.)

Reckon server transfers are still free, so you could hop over if you wanted.

Yeah, I feel the same way about that. I think scripted RP can be a way around it, but scripting everything eliminates the sense of unpredictability that ties down a lot of people, and it's a rather unrealistic idea to begin with.

In the case of storyline RP or somesuch, I find that a group of officers/appointed event leaders can work behind the scenes to make sure the event proceeds as planned. Like for example, we once had an event on LOTRO where we walked from Bree to the Misty Mountains, escorting a dwarf to find his comrades. Encounters on the road were all scripted, including low level alts of friends who agreed to play the role of bandits who attacked us. The general outline of what was to happen was laid out, but it was unknown to the party, and they still had individual choices they could make during the encounters, leading to a healthy degree of interactivity and keeping enough meta-control to prevent godmoding or other nonsense. Basically a virtual Choose Your Own Adventure Or not unlike D&D GMs.

For more day-to-day RP encounters in taverns, that option is unavailable, so we're stuck with the occasional burly, medieval PUA-acolyte patron, or a mage with an inferiority complex.

My only experience with them is from the Bloodlines game, which was quite interesting, in more ways than Jeanette's oversized cleavage

Given how cutthroat EVE is, it'll be interesting to see CCP translate that sort of thing into WoD. The risk of permadeath will be a fun influence.

And yeah that's right. Thousands of superheroes is a lot like face-melting mages But I had nowhere to go after LOTRO, so I gave in and went wacko mode. That and I figured they'd improve on COH's character generator. Was fun.

And while LOTR also qualifies as high fantasy, magic was limited to a few entities in some interpretations. So it was mostly tavern RP and the occasional brigand drama.

Sounds promising. I'd try an Android. I've never used a smartphone or any iGadgets for that matter (yet).

I see your points. My dislike of it might stem from a general aversion of high fantasy settings. I tend to feel that if magic is everywhere, things get wacky easily. There are wacky positives, such as irresponsible Asura bakers which serve as hours of amusement. But it makes more grounded and immersive RP more difficult if too much power is given to individuals.

I have made a similar character once on CO; an ex-psychiatrist working at PSI who was subject to experiments that altered his brain chemistry to perpetually produce happy-hormones, and he thought it'd be a good idea to steal an experimental power armour powered by... brain-juice? and fight crime. Then he acted as an ENTP in clubs and got tiny monkey men to stick to his legs.

Waiting for this for potentially good RP. Might interest you.

I farted my way through a lot of the PvE content in that, but felt that the RP might not be that interesting because of the comparatively lackluster setting or something. Has neat emotes and animations suitable for it, though.

@ DCUO: Indeed. Not sure on what game to find quality RP at this point. Last time I enjoyed it was on LOTRO a few years ago.
