As with many things in life, arrogance and humility probably lie along a continuum, a specific range of which can be defined simply as "realistic".

People do use it too lightly. I've never been called arrogant to my face except by my boss, who throws judgments around the way brown-nosers throw compliments.

    Trailer time...

The POP in my avatar is a good starting point, it's an offshoot from the rest of the franchise, but it's impossible to die - thanks to the babe with the magic hands ;p. "Warrior Within" is by far the hardest, it actually has a HARD setting, the rest have easy and normal settings; Sands of Time, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones are a trilogy and Forgotten Sands an extra to that trilogy.

Well, if someone disagrees with an opinion you hold then you must believe that they're wrong. And if it turns out you were wrong then people think you're arrogant for having been biased toward your own viewpoint. But honestly I don't think it's that uncommon to be biased toward one's own viewpoint...

It's probably true that some people think I'm arrogant for irrational reasons, or at least think I'm more confident than I actually am.

I think a lot of people define arrogance as someone who, for instance, thinks she's definitely right even when she's demonstrably wrong. There's a happy medium to be had between overconfidence and chronic self-doubt.

Not the best in the franchise, but the "prince's" demeanor is close to my own.

LOL. I'm sorry if you didn't get my humor. I have a weird sense of humor. When I said I learned "Belgian" I was actually saying I've taken French and Dutch (not Flemish) classes. And Canadian (French), Swiss/Austrian (German), Brazilian (Portuguese), USSR (Russian), Mexican (Spanish). It's my little joke. And "Amerikaans" is a Dutch joke for American English (like how Afrikaans is a form of Dutch). I make these jokes (along with the astrology jokes about the UN not hiring me because I'm a Pisces) to poke fun at IGO recruitment processes. In a way it's self-depreciating because it's my way of joking, "no wonder nobody wants to hire you, you think Mexican is a language". LOL. I have a weird, twisted sense of humor. Don't worry about not understanding it, I'm just trying to console myself because people make it so hard for me to get a job.

I much prefer teaching undergrads to teaching high school kids, and I prefer teaching graduate students to teaching undergrads. I have often had students older than myself.

Adults value their time; if they are going to take a class (and PAY for it), they are going to give it the attention it requires. Teaching people who care about what is going on in the class is great; teaching people who are *EXCITED* about what is going on in the class is wonderful!

Word counts for assignments? I don't grade "by the kilogram". In my opinion, less is more: dense prose, terse descriptions, simple diagrams...

I never give assignments with size quotas, in part because I don't want to have to read piles of prose that exist only for the purpose of bulking up the size.

Well, not sure your age but I didn't start feeling the desire be more social until I hit my mid/late 40's. I do believe that's typical as our F/S cognitive functions start surfacing more frequently as we reach mid=life.

I have not yet had an occasion to travel to Africa at all, but I will say that there are definitely marked cultural differences everywhere I've been. In terms of hospitality, Asia was my best experience. My work colleagues from China and Singapore wanted to keep me busy and entertained ALL THE TIME, which was very trying for my INFJness! But it is still preferable to being left alone in a strange place to fend for oneself.
(And I hear you about the one-uppery!).
