I have briefly read the IPCC reports and read in greater detail the sections on radiative forcing, feedback mechanisms and climate modelling but I have remained unconvinced. They seem to keep their data sets and actual engines of their models quite secret and secure. Until the data sets and the model engines are made public and endure full public scrutiny, I will continue to remain unconvinced.

I speculate Labor is attempting to introduce this carbon tax because it is easier to state we must tax you for your own good rather than stating that they are spending too much money and are required to increase taxes to meet their financial obligations.

I would just refer back to section 116 of the constitution (separation of powers) which states that the government may not legislate for or against any particular religion. Environmentalist is essentially a religion. Anthropogenic climate change is a subset of its dogma. Introducing a carbon tax is legislating religious dogma and hence is a violation of section 116 of the constitution.

The greens would like to prevent all economic activity. The nationals want to institute agrarian socialism at the expensive of the rest of society. Labour party is instituting grandiose social programs and combating invisible enemies. The liberal part? I have no idea what they stand for.
