    Good to see you back.

I believe hemp growing is currently illegal but according to this article written in 2000, some farmers were given permission to grow hemp. I am unsure whether the project is still in effect.

haha, I considered CAD software, but I decided in the end to have a patent agent do all the dirty work (agents, NOT attorneys...attys have more power & can prosecute, but for my simple needs, I didn't think the JD markup was worth it.

If I'm going to spend big bucks, it better do things right. I don't trust myself!

Are you also a gizmo geek?

No sorry, I don't know much about autodesk inventor. Interesting youtube clip. My mother started a business training organisation many years ago. When she first started she was the only employee. Even though she was grossing less she was netting more compared to working for someone else because of how the tax system works.

I agree that a business has a clear cut goal and due to the "calculated and structured" form that business take, one can maximise the probability of obtaining that goal, but one cannot be absolutely certain of the destination of that business.

Similar arguments can be used for chess, war, et cetera.

Does the business-jungle comparison make sense?

Regarding the jungle thing, I shall try and make sense whilst focusing on the business-jungle relationship:
With both a business and a jungle one can observe the entirety of it, yet, due to the number of paths, detail contained within and the dynamic 'organism' that business assume and that jungle is, one never knows one's destination. Complementing the latter is the danger that lurks everywhere one go and the unknown ahead. All of this forms an aesthetically pleasing and challenging, yet rewarding environment.

I've never played Capitalism against a human player; it should be interesting though. It seems as if you have given the sequel thing quite a bit of thought. Your ideas seem fascinating and should add an extra dimension to the gameplay. That last part about buying suits, cars and mansions seems similar to Sims. Maybe they should do a cross between Sims and Capitalism (Sims have a Business expansion that is useless and unrealistic). Any other strategy games that you enjoy?

You compare chess to business and I compare chess to a jungle. Business--jungle. It actually fits. Regardless, I enjoy business due to the complexity of it. It is a well-designed set of rules and interactions that forms a system. I enjoy breaking down a system (probably why I enjoy strategy games). But, unlike strategy games, real business has the extra dimension of psychological factors which can be unpredictable, yet constitute a completely new system with its own set rules and interactions.

My engineering major was environmental which is a generalist field of engineering. Essentially a hybrid between systems, civil and chemical engineering disciplines. The generalisation came at the cost of lacking tools in quantitative analyse. We were taught how to design dams, waste water treatment plants, reticulation systems, urban infrastructure etc. but not statistical analysis. The statistics learned in applied mathematics enables one to develop more complex decision indexes. In addition, mathematics can be applied to almost anything. It is working well because it enabled me to get a job not involving chasing after frogs in the rain forest to deduce how climate change is effecting them.

I do believe you are genuine. I put in the 'assuming' there in case someone questions who you say you are and also to make the following statements applicable to others engaging in similar activities. I am currently working for an entrepreneur in developing smart water supply systems which utilise artificial intelligence in the broad sense of the term. He maybe doing out of greed or the profit motive but damn his ideas are brilliant! If the project is seen to fruition it will benefit society at large.

The memories. You are going to make me search for my disc again. And that's bad, I do not have the time available.

I do play chess, yes. Having said that, I rarely play and I'm not very good; I've never had any sort of training or coaching. I just learned the types of moves that can be made and worked from there, but due to the time lapse between games, I've never really had sufficient exposure.

You obviously love business. What do you think attracted you to it initially?

Besides financial accounting, we also go into depths of management accounting, cost accounting, SA tax, financial management (especially in regard to valuation techniques and subsequent investment decision making), auditing, companies act (SA's of course) and corporate governance (SA related). We also dabble a bit in business ethics.

So where in the USA do you find yourself? (You may be vague if you want, e.g. north-east would suffice)

Alternative energy. Yes, quite the lucrative market. Even in South Africa there has been a lot of pressure to move to more environmentally safe means of generating electricity (about 90% of our electricity is generated using coal, or so I hear).

Food? I'm fairly traditionalist when it comes to food, therefore I haven't tried out the more "exotic" varieties available. Nevertheless, good old South African food regardless of culture, is simple, everyday food that can proverbially or literally set your taste buds on fire. Due to my method of playing safe with food, my knowledge is fairly limited to "boerekos", i.e. the food as prepared and cooked by the Afrikaans speaking population which is mostly white.

But even with all our problems in South Africa, nothing brings the people together like a good sport match (rugby, cricket or soccer, predominantly) and a braai.
