I feel bad for not being able to appreciate such high quality/intellectual music in my daily life. But last summer I went to a concert that was extremely inspiring (I was writing my ideas on a piece of paper during the concert!) Mahler's Symphony of a thousand!!
Well maybe you are just being hard on yourself. I feel like I'm hard on myself. Probably I look better than I think I do...or maybe not. But it's just the media you know?
