Certainly you don't sound stupid. I think maybe the thread was getting the two confused a bit with actual rape, rape fantasy and bdsm. In fact, if the guidelines suggested are followed, participants review the role play together verbally before any fantasy is attempted. Most dominants are very compassionate towards their submissives and ensure their safety at all times.

In certain studies I've read about, most bdsm participants showed no history of sexual, verbal or physical abuse and were considered normal and mentally healthy. Which is contrary to popular belief. I don't know the validity of these studies but I think they are worth noting.

I would encourage you to read the book 'SM 101' to become a little more educated on how bdsm works. It is helpful and enlightening. Even for those who have no interest in this type of sexual lifestyle.
