This is fantastic. I have nothing to add, so I'll just post my compliments here.

Detroit spends the least per capita on infrastructure and policing. Isn't it just the epitome of safety?

You make a reasonable point about not simply accepting hypocrisy. (I don't think that's what this artist was doing, but in general your point is defensible.)

I was being sarcastic. It may actually come to that though.

Thanks. Your 'economy just keeps improving' thread prompted the friend request. I don't know squat about economics. I 'live' on Social Security Disability Insurance for bipolar illness and chronic migraine, among other things, which is a daunting task.

I'm looking for the economy to improve enough for people to start spending money on live entertainment again. It's an ambitious plan, but I'd like to get some songs together on voice and guitar and try to earn tips in a bar or restaurant.

I also have an interest in writing original songs. The music industry is brutal in the best of times, but you never know until you try.

So things are looking up, I hope, I hope? I'm 55 and about to lose my mind with 'early retirement', which at the time was the only choice I had. I had a period of a year or two when I was too sick to work or go to school. Everything fell apart. Multiple sclerosis was mentioned.

I applied for all manner of jobs, janitorial on up, for over a year and got not a nibble. When you have a gap in your work record US employers avoid you like the plague.

I think the idea that people would rather lay around on the pittance provided by disability, which I earned by paying into the system during my many productive years, is a myth. Boredom is the enemy! For me, anyways.

I'll never give up, no matter what they throw at me.

Wouldn't you agree that Hispanic men (in general) tend to not be tall and powerful?

You are so right! Even if the next big hit is 30 years from now, the Bears will be selling newsletters claiming that they "predicted it".

    Christ.

    LOL.

    The 'derp's' on me, then.

No wonder my answer seemed as if I was saying it was worse to be loved straight away. I was completely caught up in the idea that 'hey, of course it's okay to fall in love with someone before you know them 'completely', or 'thoroughly'.'

    My apologies, ischuldt!

I was indeed saying it would be better to be loved early on, than rejected early on....etc.

I think I was mislead by this part of your OP, though:

'having someone fall in love with you without knowing you as well as you think they should'

I don't see how that is a form of rejection.

    That's early acceptance, isn't it?
