    I suddenly have the urge to pick up the flute mainly because it's portable (I play the piano and am now travelling for the next few months), the sound is okay (though to be really honest, I prefer the violin's) and it's convenient - I don't have to have a supply of reeds!

    Anyhow, due to budget constraints (I was thinking of a Yamaha flute 221), I got an alto recorder instead! Not the same, but I figured that I'm using it as a tool to practise my musicianship skills (playing by ear and improvisation).

    The flute is so tempting though.

    Anyhow, I might message you someday if I can't figure out double tonguing and circular breathing... (I played the trombone for like 6 years and still can't get the above...)

    How as in the technique of playing the instruments. Marching bands seem to be a big thing in the states. I was at Chicago and there were tons of bands from the midwest in the 2 parades that I was at.
