I used to think it was the greatest thing since sliced bread but it seems like it's become a carnival act as it gets along in age. Maybe I'm just grumpy.
Well, I may not be giving you the full story. I suspect it depends on the ratio of water content. I was watching a show the other day about it where they were showing something somewhat of the opposite. Solids and a glass of water left you less full (after a few hours) than making a soup out of the same food and the same amount of water. Because the water essentially passes straight through you, the stomach expands for the glass of water, but quickly shrinks again, unlike the soup which holds onto more of the water content for far longer. But that was for solids without much liquid content to begin with (chicken etc).
