Dragonball is always suitable on the situation

And I think kids from a healthy marriage are the best, of course, but between an unhealthy marriage and a single parent, I'd pick a single parent any day, which is why I think divorce is good... In certain cases, of course. Although since you've spoken of cousin, I have a cousin who is daughter of a single parent (my aunt divorced) and she is a bit dysfunctional for an adult. She's like trapped on adolescence forever.

I don't think it's 100% certain all broken marriages will result in self-centered people. They might affect different children differently, and it depends a lot in how the couple will deal with the divorce.

Detached people happen naturally, too. I consider myself to be a very detached person, but my parents are fairly happy together. And I've always been like this (ok, I had a shitty childhood, but I was detached even then). I'm not by any means a bad friend or anything of the like -- I just happen to have a good grip on my emotions and let things go when they are meant to.

I don’t want to give up my "universal values" in order to fit into a group...

Of course it's by accident and we have no idea of what we are doing. Trial and error is a pretty name for "pray for luck". Although being an idiot has higher chances of ending up in error. But I'm not on the level of wishing my nation dies. Because I'm selfish and I like here.

Hmm... Yep, fall of the civilizations. Error on society level is fatal in a large scale, but ever since Homo Sapiens Sapiens started walking on Earth many societies fell -- and many things improved.

Actually, the former president of Brazil, Lula, had no superior education. He was a minimum wage worker and he improved upon many things around here. Although I'm afraid he's a smartass.

In short, we don't know anything... It's a trial and error process, much like evolution. Well, fixing what's wrong is an evolution, anyway. If we do nothing due to fear of error, we might as well stagnate and that's it.

Now, I'm not looking forward everything being controlled by machines either. I think we need a sense of responsibility to tick better.

    Haha, true.

I tend to avoid most of the discussion-heavy threads as they tend to turn into mud-flinging attacks instead of intelligent debates.

True enough -- although keeping the same old method forever might not be the best way to keep things stable... Anyhow, the method depends on what a specific society is working towards, or what is considers to be the most important.

In the end it seems as if we -- the humankind -- aren't aiming at anything, and my "everyone gets cake and can eat it too" opinions come from there. But I can understand where you come from, and I can see the faults in my own position (too much cake ).

We're good. I actually read the thread -- I just think we disagree on what the society is for. I'd say we are in a survival of the whole era, since evolution is almossst neutralized by medicine and reproduction isn't the main goal anymore. Freedom for all is not the most efficient method to keep humankind running, I certainly agree with you. Which is why I didn't reply to the thread.

It's a great little camera. Has different settings and normally I'd use portrait but I'm finding unexpected joy in using the 'kids & pets' setting. It's one of the Canon Powershot cameras.
