I am so proud you have taken these intial steps to help you get on the path you want to be on. Please be so proud of yourself too - it is not easy. I have good feelings from the sounds of this doctor and I am glad he is taking things slow, especially with introducing you to medication. And I hate to sound like a broken record, but please, I cannot stress more, be careful with drugs and alcohol. You are in a critical period with the introduction of medicine and unfortunately when we want to help ourselves, we have to make some tough decisions. That includes changing others we associate ourselves with, as well as some social settings that could hinder our wellbeing. I am really glad you are looking out for yourself and just watch out for any side effects with the medicine. It sounds like you are in good hands there. Huge hugs to you and keep us posted how you are doing

Then you're going to have to wait until you're not sick to talk about big decisions.

Right now you are depressed. Right now you are lost. Right now you are about to be angry and sad and more bad things. This is not the time to make big decisions. Go eat something, take a long strenuous walk, then think about this again.

That is great to hear. I am am glad you are feeling better, DP/DR is awful and it is scary too. You will start to feel better after some time I am sure. Really glad you are getting the help too, it is not an easy process. Just know you have support here and are in my thoughts.

I am familiar with that phase and the cycle could be broken but it is not fixed in a day or two it might take a year and more of constant effort

I am really sorry to hear that, but certainly do not feel alone. Many people do not know where they are going or what they are doing, life is very unpredictable. I really recommend some creative outlets, not even specifically with an art therapist, but some healthy hobbies to take your mind off how you are feeling. And alcohol does really affect our moods as well so although it can be a quick escape, it can make us feel worse overall. And physical exercise really does wonders too. It gets all the good feeling chemicals moving. When we are depressed, we don't feel like leaving the couch, which makes the entire process repetitive and worse. I really hope you feel better soon.

You are very welcome and big big hugs to you It sounds like talk therapy may not have been best for you and many people have experienced the same thing, so please don't feel alone! Art therapy is relatively still new although becoming more popular. The health benefits not only for depression and anxiety are really becoming more recognized and studied. I attended an art school for a semester and was lucky enough to discover it and that was many many years ago! I almost studied it and now kinda shooting myself for not, but am really thinking about getting into now. I worked with Alzheimer's patients and there were lots of benefits for them as well. It really allows one to release some negative emotion, plus tapping into the creative parts of us and producing something tangible can really boost positive emotions as well. It is a great way to release and express if you know what I mean, especially if talk therapy is proving not as beneficial. Check out this link and see if you can locate an art therapist near you if you are interested. Also check out some art schools and even art centers because they may have some programs you will find useful or may even want to incorporate you into their studies. Good luck and I hope you feel better. I certainly hope I did not come off preachy, I just get great concern when someone may be calling out for help or struggling and feel they are in a dead end. Reach out anytime too

Well, I'm glad you came by. And got it. I aim for value-neutral observation, with occasional syrupy digressions into stuff I personally like.

I have late-developing Fe where I suddenly see high emotional content/context in things and it's like new colours have been added to my palette in the last few years, so this will probably seem either very odd or completely natural to you, but your pie thread made me a little gooshy.
