How so? Because you're looking at things in terms of people processes, as opposed to "logical thing" processes. INFJs dislike INTJ plans because they ignore how people will totally f-ck up the plans. Treating people as robots, as you say. The corollary is that INFJs (and in particular ISFJs) will seem to understand the "logical thing" logistics, such as money and time and budgets, but instead seem to be more concerned with appearing to be efficient and effective, than actually quantitatively being efficient and effective.

Both Ni-doms look to be efficient and effective, but they look at different halves of the problem.

I guess I just assumed, from the nature of what you were asking, that you were Canadian. In any case, if you're looking at graduate school, I would highly recommend looking at Canadian schools. They cost the same (if not less), the education is just as good (if not better), and the people aren't batshit crazy.

Haha. I have to ask, are you not Canadian? For whatever reason, I was under the impression that you were. In any case, I think 'fellowships' are at the discretion of the university, regardless of where it is. I almost went to graduate school in the US but the school had no money to offer me, so I waited for another year. Fortunately, I happened to find a very good professor at a Canadian school that offered me a substantial amount of money that was a combination of both a grant from the school itself (a grant that it gave to any graduate student who maintained a certain GPA) as well as some of her own personal grant money from various scientific foundations in Canada.

Are you looking at going into graduate school?

The time spent in any one area depends on the nature of the project. The one I'm working on now is fairly large-scale so we'll be there until at least October, and this isn't the first year the company has been working on this particular deposit. And yes, I got my BS in the US, but was fortunate enough to stumble my way into a Canadian school for my MS.

Well the ideas always bounce off of things I see. I may see a green light, then think about lights in general, then think about light in space, then think about spaceships and on and on... I suspect Ni would focus at looking at the light from more and more perspectives and derive deeper meaning from the one item by compiling all of those perspectives together.

Yeah, I have a BS and MS in geology. I work for a small consulting company that gets hired by bigger natural resource companies to do early stage reconnaissance and ground-truthing. We just do our work and pass on the data, we don't have anything to do with the development stage.

It is something that I have come to terms with over the years, accepting the fact that there are people in the world that still see and are awed by such beautiful sights, yet recognize the fact that the human race will move over them regardless of how breath-taking they are. It is no small comfort to me that at least there are people out there who will still document the beauty of the Earth, and pass on how important it is that it is conserved.

Haha. I'm glad you said that, because by my very nature I like to see the natural world in its pristine state, and I often fantasize about how beautiful everything would be were it left in such a state; yet I also recognize the fact that even if I were not doing what I do, that there are people out there who would be doing it without me, who would have no appreciation for the natural beauty that we witness every day and still tear it from the ground. So I consider myself fortunate that I can witness such places, even though I am technically leading to their development (a.k.a. destruction). (continued above)

For me it is a dream job. I'm a geologist, doing mineral exploration. We set up a temporary camp at the base of a copper deposit in west-central B.C. and are drilling sample core.

Nah, I don't think so. I graduated from college already and didn't feel any better for it. I've slogged through it for quite some time.

I lived in Nova Scotia for two years, getting my graduate degree, and I now work in B.C. although I mainly live in an isolated camp in the mountains for my job. I say better because I find that most Canadians generally have a better developed social consciousness. They are more aware of the impact their actions have on other people/countries and hence are also more open and accommodating with regard to foreign cultures. They recognize that basic social services should be provided to every citizen, and although taxes are higher to pay for such services, they don't complain about them nearly as much because they know it's being spent on things which benefit society rather than a gigantic military. For every soldier that dies, it is a big deal, whereas in the States nobody seems to care, because they died a noble patriots death.
