I work at a fast-food restaurant for a living. People like me end up there once they stop grinding things out. During my spare time I read books and browse search-engines.
Deep down I've known that for a long time, I've just never liked it because I'm having to go through the motions of it right now. Thank you, just out of curiosity, what is it that you do? (forgive the mundane question, its curiosity and since we're semi on the subject).
Those who can do something about it sit comfortable already. There is an old saying; "never change a winning concept". The reason things are the way they are is because someone benefits from it, and they won't change the rules because that could threaten their position on the ladder. Never mind how small of a change it is, if it's caught moving in the wrong direction.
Exactly what I plan on doing, no other option really. Agreed on that video. It's strange how quite a few people have indicated that A) there is a problem. B) What and how fundamental this problem is and C) Possible alternatives, yet nobody that can do something about it, does something about it. You're right about his use of language as well, wish some of my professors were more into being concise. What especially infuriates me is repeating what I've just said and using more words to do so as well.
Interesting rant part on the Educational system. I wholly agree on the class attendance part, unfortunately I'm in a university/college that makes it mandatory for me to be present and for me to play "nice" with people or I'll be downgraded. Thankfully 1 more semester to go and then my MA, which, I'm dreading will be the same system.
