Well then you could do a manure pack to create raised beds in stages. 4 feet wide, 4 feet long, 4 feet deep; there's a raised bed, ready in 2 years... do another, and another, and another. Right on the gravel so you take advantage of that good drainage. And bob's your uncle.
About an acre and a half for the backyard -- most of it is unusable primarily owing to the fact that much of it is gravel. The parts I use I had to shovel out and filter out most of the rocks over several weeks.
