say what you will about futurama and family guy, but South Park has been outstanding for at least the past 5 years, and every season keeps getting better!

I agree with you. The humor is much higher in South Park than in the other shows you mentioned. I catch it when I can.

South Park is brilliant. Crude, yes, but better than any of the sitcoms or other mainstream television that pops up these days.

South Park is one of my favorite shows ever. And I think it has consistently gotten better every season. And their social and political commentary is dead on.
A point of pride with me is that I grew up in the town the creators grew up in. Matt Stone spoke at my sister's high school graduation ;D
See? Colorado's not all ignorant hicks!

Very funny show. They insult everyone. Poor Kenny always gets killed by someone.

I have to disagree a bit here. On the whole, South Park is still enjoyable but when they started throwing in all those movie spoofs, it lost a bit of the edge when it came to ascerbic social commentary. Just my $0.02, I still prefer the earlier seasons, but I just....can't....stop....

The 300 spoof was funny as hell though.

The best was the WoW episode, though. "How can you kill that which has no life?"

Mmm I've always been partial to South Park, but my family has never been a keen supporter of it. Recently been having a SP marathon and watching every episode in order, just finished Season 4. Having only seen this far, I'd like to say that Season 2 was gold, and the standout episode that I can remember (actually S03) was the 'Spontaneous Combustion' episode:
Newsreader: "It's f*cking hot, thanks to the global warming caused by Randy Marsh, that son of a bitch. I hate that guy and so do you."
and
Randy Marsh: "I'll do what I have to, Mayor. Or else? Or else what. Exactly."
and
Chef: "You children shouldn't be out crucifyin' yourselves in this heat. But what I'm gonna tell you now is gonna really piss you off Eric... this is just a dream, you're still up on that cross!"
Cartman: "Goddamnit!"
Ahhh too good.

I must agree with this. I hate Family Guy and never feel the slightest urge to go and watch some Simpsons.
Southpark, however, kicks ass. I can't really explain why though...

Because they're from Colorado. All things from Colorado inherently kick ass.

My personal opinion is that South Park is brilliant, and I'll never consider myself to be famous until they tear me up on the show.

Yes.
How is South Park more biased, objectively speaking, than The Boondocks (though I admit the animated version of the latter is less political than the comics version)? Perhaps South Park is simply biased against things you support, while The Boondocks isn't.
I enjoy them both, though my personal biases often tend to correspond with South Park.

I enjoy it comically, but when they try to convince everyone of a concept in a fake environment that they control, I tend to balk while everyone else is saying "they are sooooo right!"
Oh, everything worked out in a way that is contributes continuity to Stan's speech at the end of the episode... amazing.

it's an analogy. Although they are biased. They just happen to be biased in a way that I agree with.

Of course it's an analogy, I just don't prefer that method of one-sided argumentation, despite that I probably agree with more of what they're saying than disagree.

how exactly do you have a two-sided argument on TV? They usually have a few voices of dissent in the characters if some of the other characters are pushing some world view.
Why are we even arguing south park political bias, it's a friggin comedy, it's supposed to be presumptuous, thats where all the best humor is.

You can't, but the fact that that it's done here in a way too subtle for most people to realize is bothersome.
And you're right, it is a comedy, but they don't seem to make any joke about the pulpit they're preaching from. Sure, every cameo or idea brought up is blown out of proportion, and that's funny, but the "point" at the end is often conveyed in a way that makes people say "wow, that really is true!" by sheer contrast, even when it isn't, necessarily.
A friend of mine is dating a female of pacific-island decent... another friend of ours calmly explained during one conversation that the former "just liked Asian women". Of course, an assumption of this magnitude pissed him off. Same thing--when something is conveyed so doubtlessly in complete disregard for real reasoning just rubs me the wrong way, and the fact that the authors of the show use it to put their opinions in such light is an example of this.
A lot of other people do it on TV, but they just aren't nearly as convincing.
I think the show is simply brilliant. But I'm quite amazed at how far they can go without getting censored in the US.
One of the my favorites:
*Randy marsh on Wheel Of Fortune*
Host: The category is....."People who annoy you"
Randy: Okay..
Host: As always we give you the letters: RTLSE
Host: We just need three more consonants and a vowel
Randy: Ok, I'd like an B, an N, and a G
Host: And the vowel?
Randy: An "O" please.. *crosses fingers*
Host: Ok, well it seems you're gonna get a lot of help here..
*letters are revealed* N*GGER
Host: *repeats question* People who annoy you
Host: Audience keep quiet please
*suspense*
Randy: Uhhh
Randy: Well, uhh
Host: 10 seconds mister Marsh
Randy: I know it but I don't think I should say it...
Host: 5 seconds mister Marsh
Randy: Alright. I'd like to solve the puzzle
Randy: NIGGERS
*silence*
*buzzer is triggered signaling the answer is wrong*
Randy: Huh
*the final letter is turned revealing an A*
Randy: Oohhhhh
Stan: ooeehhhh
Randy: Oh, naggers...of course, naggers........right..
Host: Uhh, uhh.. can we..cut..to a.....can we cut to a co....
*broadcast seizes*

I find that line ironic.
It's bias as in politically-incorrect. There you go, I thought everyone knew that.

I was thinking about this last night as I was going to sleep... has anyone else seen the episode where Cartman freezes himself so he won't have to wait for the WII and wakes up 5000 years in the future when everyone is an athiest?
All the athiests are always going around saying, "Their logic is flawed!" and "Science H Logic!" and "But their reasoning is inferior to ours!"
That episode just really reminds me of this forum. ;D

South Park could be the last good social commentary left on TV, it beats the hell out of most of the news channels.
Just to stur up some controversy. South Park kicks Family guys ass, and it just keeps getting better while FG has taken a noticable slide.

I miss SP a lot... used to watch it regularly while I was staying in USA. But it doesn't come where I live now - in India...
