Tonight, I met a girl for the second time, and originally this was the plan:
To go to the park here, walk around, enjoy the scenery, talk, maybe sit on a park bench and get to know eachother.
It was too windy.
So instead, I invited her to come over, we'll eat some food and watch TV.
We were both full. So instead, we ended up doing something completely fun, and I recommend it for anyone who's interested in getting to know another through dating: We baked cookies from scratch.
It was fun, it was constructive, and we helped each other out through our sticking points. We both got to see each other tackle the little difficulties life throws at you. IE: "Oops! I put a cup of flour in instead of sugar!" and gracefully took each hiccup in stride, with smiles and a confident feeling that we could get through it.
It worked out quite well, and I'm glad we did it. Now I know she has skin thick enough to deal with the little things, and yeah... I recommend trying it sometime!
Another great date idea, that I plan on trying sometime is dance lessons. I've heard good things about it. I go to the gym and occasionally see dance lesson's happening in the next room over, and it looks like a lot of fun. It's chemistry in motions, it involves your body, it's passionate and yeah, it's just a great date, waiting to happen.
Finally, the last one that I've heard about, and haven't quite done myself yet but looks like fun is doing volunteer work. I'm sure if you wanted to, you could find a whole schwack of reasons why this would be a good date idea.

They sat together in the park, as the evening sky grew dark. She looked at him and he felt a spark, tingle to his bones. 'Twas then he felt alone, and wished that he'd gone straight, and watched out for a simple twist of fate.
Sorry... I'll start over.
I admire your proactivity. That cookies thing sounds like a decent idea. Some kind of activity or project appeals to me because it gives you something to talk about. It doesn't really matter what the thing you're doing is. It's just a way to make conversation. They say that 80 percent of what you get out of a conversation with someone has nothing to do with the direct subject you're talking about. It's just a way to get the talking going, which, if you're as quiet as I am, helps a lot.

Yeah it works wonders. One of the things about being shy is it's a little difficult for us to trust our natural creativity in generating a conversation out of thin air. So, instead, a project gives you a goal, and together you can work as a team towards that goal, discovering little things about each other during the process. The hardest part...is asking.
I found it a little awkward and difficult to ask if she wanted to bake cookies because for some reason, I had this little nagging idea that it's somehow 'wrong' to do any work on a date. However, I forced myself to ask away because I knew it was a good idea and in the end it wasn't wrong, it was fun! And as everybody knows, fun rocks :)

I think that's an awesome idea, nice!
None of the boring complete non-productiveness of watching TV or a movie because you actually get to know someone a little more.
It also tops step number 2 of how a lot of people I know do it (step 2 being getting her drunk)

Haha.. that sounds nice. I have a friend who enjoys making dinner for me when I go over and I don't have to help... at least at dinner time.. just clean the dishes and put the food away... but I do help at breakfast time, we flip, I make breakfast for him once in a full moon...
Anyway, the cookie idea is nice... I would like to see my date baking and decorating a cake... I would enjoy that very much..

I love the cookie idea though I can never follow directions much less a recipe. lol
Another date idea that was nice was ice skating.
In Miami we only have one skating rink so it was fun to try it out with my date. We ended up chasing one another and crashing more often than not.
It was nice ;)

I enjoy cooking/baking with dates. I like to test the girl's skills just in case things work out. I don't mean that in "the woman's place is in the kitchen" kind of way, but in the "I don't want to be the only one cooking" kind of way.
Other date ideas that I can think of: going to the gun range, fishing, exercise (the gym, jogging, cycling, etc), camping, picnics, surfing, scuba diving, board games, mixing & trying unique alcoholic drinks together, going to the zoo, babysitting a young sibling or relative (as long as the kid isn't very annoying), batting cages, arcades, bowling, putt putt golf, go karts, preparing for a holiday (decorating, cooking, wrapping presents, shoping, etc), museum outings, visiting an aquarium, dressing up like extreme fans & going to a professional game together, concerts, plays, operas, going to a casino, ...
...there are others, but I think this list is getting too long for one post & most of these seem sort of obvious. I'd rather see what others have to suggest.

I love your ideas... would love to go to a gun range, fishing bores me to death, so that one is out of the questions, the rest are awesome...kids I have a 4 year old to deal with.. but that one is permanent hahaha..
Anyway, you have great ideas... I hope I can find a friend with a similar view to put up with me....

hahahaha I did almost all of that with the intj i used to date.
We had a ton of fun! He even suggested we go to the shooting range. It was different and out of the box so of course I was down to do it.

Well isn't that the point of dating, to find someone you like who likes things similar to your likes?.....a lot of "likes" there, but I'm sure you get the point.
I'm sure you'll find someone if you keep an eye out. ;)
I don't enjoy all the activities on my list either. I hate camping; bugs that bite, lack of technology, things to aggravate my allergies, and more bugs. :yuck: But someone else here might like the idea & just not have considered it as a dating idea. And hopefully they can post an idea I might find useful in return. :cheesy:

Yeah, shooting can be a ton of fun. I like to draw a face on my targets before I go to the range. If I decided to take a girl on a gun range date, I'd have her draw on my target & I'd draw on hers. It'd personalize the experience and I think we'd have more fun. Anything for that extra factor of fun. :cheesy:
