Nikita
11-23-2008, 10:58 AM
In my idealistic moments, yes.
How open-minded do you believe yourself to be?
FYI
from Jung's Psychological Types:
The peculiar nature of introverted intuition, when given the priority, also produces a peculiar type of man, viz. the mystical dreamer and seer on the one hand, or the fantastical crank and artist on the other. The latter might be regarded as the normal case, since there is a general tendency of this type to confine himself to the perceptive character of intuition. As a rule, the intuitive stops at perception; perception is his principal problem, and -- in the case of a productive artist-the shaping of perception. But the crank contents himself with the intuition by which he himself is shaped and determined. Intensification of intuition naturally often results in an extraordinary aloofness of the individual from tangible reality; he may even become a complete enigma to his own immediate circle.

It depends on. I'm open minded when getting know something new. After understanding it throughly, I become close minded. I can become open minded again if my understanding contradicts reality.

My favorite events are the gymnastic events.
I don't like the somewhat arbitrary nature of the scoring system, but the things that they do with their bodies are incredible. The guys appear to pull off with ease flares that would even put professional bboys to shame.

Involved. Well thought through. I have trouble weighing up all the options, and making a final choice. At least in supermarkets anyhow. Clothes shops, on the other hand, I hate. I tend to run in, grab something, and go "this'll do", and then run out again straight after paying.

I took thursday and friday off work because the server went down today and I don't like being in work when I can't get anything done. It gets me stressed. So I put in for two holiday days so not to leave my boss too much out of pocket.
I'm going to the doctors to pick up my prescription, going to have a meeting with the bank manager, possibly doing some xmas shopping (unless I carry through on my 'credit crunch' excuse this year), and then I'm off back home to see my friends and family. Got to fix my parents computer, fix my new laptop I broke, go to the pub friday night, curry saturday night, sunday lunch sunday (derr!), and then back here sunday night for work monday.
(I'm never usually this busy, and I am INTJ, honest!).

Only whilst day dreaming. I had one where a gang of hoodlums approached down an alley like the one in reservoir dogs, giving it some lip, and generally being confrontational. I whipped out a samarai sword, and started laughing, and they dispersed...

Tell me about a memorable dream you had?
Nikita
11-26-2008, 04:31 PM
I was driving down a random highway in America and terrorists (who had invaded America, the country had fallen) in military style jeeps and white pickup trucks were driving behind me shooting bullets at me and every other car on the road. I ducked to avoid them, felt them whip through my hair, and watched them make swiss cheese of my windshield. Then there was this dream within a dream (I think) in which I was laying in my bed taking a nap, woke up heart pounding and paralyzed and I could see my locked bedroom doorknob turning, but I couldn't scream or move. I closed my eyes and fell back asleep. Next thing I knew in the dream, I was walking through a highway underpass with a group of people. I only recognized two people in my group, both are friends of mine named Mary. They were wearing odd clown-like costumes with black and white horizontal striped stockings. Then we were walking up on a highway again and coming at us were terrorists in a white pickup truck and firing off rounds. I yelled for everyone else to run. They rolled down the grassy hillside to the underpass below. I tried to follow them but couldn't. I was rooted to the spot. I knew I had to stay and fight, I wasn't allowed to run. So I faced them defiantly and waited. Then I woke up.
What would be your weapon of choice in a post-apocalyptic world?

You see your life as a bit of a battle. On the outside you're outgoing and always win through hard work and persistent effort. On the inside, you're a bit paranoid, and have the odd feeling of helplessness, oppression or being silenced. You see the world as a bit of a weird story playing out before your eyes, but feel that there's someone or something watching over you and guiding you.
Or... that might not have been a dream at all, and then I really don't know what to say.
What do you think of my attempt at pseudo-science? (I hope Moriarty would be proud)!
Nikita
11-26-2008, 04:50 PM
Interesting! I'd say you're pretty darned accurate, though I question the someone guiding/watching over me, it's something I do think about a lot though. And I always have at least 2 Marys in my life, if that means anything. While I frequently feel like I can conquer anything, I'd say that there are times when I question that bravado.
It was a dream. The only part that confuses me is the waking up/paralysis/doorknob part. I thought that was real at the time. I searched my apartment with a bat when I woke up just in case.

Sounds like anxiety over the possibility of not being able to take action against something you're a bit suspicious of. You fear seeing something bad happening, and being unable to do anything about it. Its a control issue. Not sure what about though, maybe all will become clear.

How long does it take you to get ready for work?
I supposedly start at 8:30am. My alarm goes off at 7am, I have a 40 min snooze, then a 15min snooze, then I get up for 8am. Have a wash, get dressed, dash out the house, and am on the bus for 8:20am.
I get there for about 8:40am. If I miss the bus (quite often), it's 9am before I'm there, and it annoys everyone else at the office because the boss daren't pull me up on it.
What do you actually do?

I'm an attorney. My role where I currently work is to interview potential clients and do all of the issue spotting in their cases. I also give them both legal and practical advice to address their problems. I manage the case files, assign other attorneys to cases, troubleshoot the problems that arise, serve as liaison to judges and the local bar association, and draft documents for the courts.

Sometimes I think real life is being out in the world and experiencing, rather than being stuck inside of my head or work.

Do you want children? If so, how many?
Nikita
11-28-2008, 05:33 PM
Yes and no. If I were going to have kids, I'd want 1, 2, or 4. One might be ideal because then I could more easily show my child the world and give him or her exposure to a wide variety of cultures and mindsets. I don't ever want my child to grow up with an arrogance that begets prejudice, small mindedness, and robs him or her of a sense of humor.

In real life: That I want the same things out of life that they do.

Who is your favorite architect?
rahdam
11-29-2008, 12:27 AM
Frank Gehry did a nice job with the Guggenheim.
But to be frank (ahem ;)), I have always been focused on the art rather than the artist; that is, I judge each work on its own merits, and I do not usually pay attention to who created it and how it fits into the larger body of work they have created. So I apologize, my answer is one born of ignorance I suppose.

How do you feel about your financial future given the events of the past few months?
Well I've lost about 5 months work of salary (take home) in the market in the last year so that sort of blows goats. But it also means I had a lot to lose, which is a byproduct of saving money, and since that won't change, I'm not too worried about the market.

It has literal and figurative meaning. The thought of being trapped in a tunnel unable to move and closed in on both sides is unnerving. Also, I don't want to be held back in life by myself or by anyone else. I don't want to work myself into a corner or lose sight of my options and the possibilities of the world.

Imagine being able to torture the one person in this world you'd most want to torture. How would you torture him/her?

Premise: I am able to torture the one person in the world I'd want to torture.
Fallacy: I do not want to torture anyone.
Response: I would "torture" this individual by not torturing them.
Do you get mad when you see scenes of torture in movies?

No, because I know it's fake.
How many cocktail drinks do you know how to mix? Which ones? (don't list them all if you know a lot!)
rahdam

I don't drink.
Do you prefer beer, wine, or the oh-so-fabulously-named "Hard A" ?
Nikita

(you don't have to drink to mix drinks)
I rarely ever drink (I have one drink, max, per year), but I prefer hard liquor. Wine would be second.
What do you want the epitaph on your tombstone to read (assume you'll have one)?

Wisdom is born of experience. Here lies one who pursued experience, and then had the courage to change the experience of later generations.
Do you prefer cremation or burial?
Nikita
12-05-2008, 11:12 PM
(very nice epitaph!)
Cremation. I want my ashes thrown into an active volcano.
Where do you want to be buried or disposed of (as to ashes if you prefer cremation)?
rahdam

The practical side of me wants the ashes dumped in a trash can and hauled away on Thursday.
The fantastical side of me wants them shot into outer space.
At what age did you first ponder death seriously?
Nikita
12-05-2008, 11:22 PM
hmm...probably 13 when I attended a triple funeral, two of the deceased persons were children, ages 9 and 11 (my cousins)
When, if ever, did you first question the religion you were raised with?
rahdam
12-05-2008, 11:28 PM
I have never questioned it.
But I have drifted significantly.
Were you raised with religion?
Nikita

I was raised Catholic. I am no longer Catholic.
What was the name of your first pet, and what kind of an animal was it?
rahdam

Annie was our dog.
She was hella cute when she was a puppy, her technical name was "Little Annie".
But she grew big, and I decided to drop the "Little," and the rest of the family followed suit.
What is your most awesome most favorite pet of all time?
Nikita

I had a retriever/black lab mix named Midnight. I adored that dog. After my dad had him put down for chewing the windowsill I cried myself to sleep for months, maybe a year. I slept with his collar wrapped around my wrist until one day it mysteriously disappeared. No one has owned up to taking it to this day. I think they're afraid to face me.
What game consoles do you own, and which is your favorite? If you don't own one, which would you want to own?
rahdam
12-05-2008, 11:51 PM
I don't own any right now. I suppose I would own Wii, I've heard its fun when people come over.
What was your first video game system? Alternatively, what is the oldest system you remember (if you do not own one)?
Nikita
12-05-2008, 11:53 PM
Nintendo is the first one we had, but I remember playing with an uncle's Atari. I don't currently own any systems, but would love a Wii, it's just so fun.
If you had to dye your hair a color other than your natural one, which color would you choose?

I usually do, it's blonder than natural.
Prefer blonde, brunette or redhead?

I was 17, she was 16.
She was a model, half Thai and half white. She had some print work.
Her biological father was a Thai drug dealer, for what its worth.
(I have no idea why I remembered all of this now.)
What are you doing tonight? I'm out.
Nikita

Pet sitting. There's a ring of purebred dog thefts in the area, so I refuse to leave him alone.
Have you ever been mugged?
