Most embarrassing moment?

Bobsama
06-02-2010, 06:52 PM
A medium-length story...
When I was about 14, I was rather angst-ridden and just generally pissed. One day in school, around Spring actually, I was going to a class. Mind you, this is an all-boys school. The hall hits a narrow and busy section and I'm trying to pass to get to a class downstairs. I'm bumped from both sides and behind and just generally having a bad day. Well, I bump into a guy in front of me--a Senior. He stops and basically looks behind him and spots me--the little Freshman--with an armful of books. I pass by him, not taking note. He comes up from behind me and knocks the textbooks out of my hands. The first thing I do is remember how pissed I am. The second thing is turn on my heel and reverse direction; I got in his face and took up a fighting stance. He's really surprised--the little Freshman isn't supposed to first turn the tables and then become the aggressor.

It was only embarrassing because I was the center of attention.\

same question

Bobsama
06-06-2010, 12:10 PM
Most memorable? Well, one of them was falling off a skiing path and getting darn close to breaking or dislocating my shoulder. Long story short, my father in his infinite wisdom didn't get the skis sharpened or the bindings set properly. So, I'm skiing on the first trip of the year and the day's wearing on. Towards the end of the day, I go on a pass that cuts from (looking down) the right side to the left side. I'm going around and apparently my ski catches on the top lip and pops off because the bindings were too loose. I go over the top as my right ski goes out of control. Luckily, I had a helmet and a few layers of clothing; I landed on my left shoulder and slid down about 20-30 yards of unfinished slop.

Worst: Worked as a programmer for a sales guy who thought programmers were magicians who could just make anything happen. I once moved a data set from a Wang 2200 system to a Xenix system, when the two had no compatible media. I used the parallel port on the back of the terminals through a parallel/serial converter, and read data directly from the port of the Xenix box, and hacked their report writer to just give me data.
