rahdam

There are some decisions that I need to make very soon that will impact my life for 12 years, potentially more, in very significant ways. These are good decisions to have to make on one hand, but on the other hand I am deathly afraid that I will grow old and frail and be unable to do some of the things I want to do with my life.

NoStoneUnturned
04-22-2009, 08:54 AM
2 days ago! I didn't go to my usual hair-person and she did a really bad job. For example, she messed up the back and my sideburns weren't even. My intuitions told me not to let her touch my head; I should have listened to them.... siiigh, i've learned to search for only ENFJ hair people, they are the best from what I can tell...

Only if it's for a car crash or something like that. Otherwise you should accept who you are. I have acne scars I wish I didn't have and a messed up nose from karate as a kid, however, I don’t find it THAT hard to get women. If I did, I might think about it. However, women usually like me for other reasons (because they think I’m smerts or something). Sooooo, I would say one should find a strength and just go with that; using HARDWORK. Plus, mind is better then the body; it's a waste of money.

Whose death has hurt you the most?

rahdam
04-22-2009, 11:27 PM
A friend on the high school cross country team died of leukemia toward the end of our senior year. Even then, I remained relatively unaffected. I'm very clinical in my reaction to death; Not cold, but not emotional. Dignified and professional, perhaps.

I'd ask you the same, but I already know the answer. With that said, describe your relationship with that individual before he passed?

Rudy
04-22-2009, 11:31 PM
I'd ask you the same, but I already know the answer. With that said, describe your relationship with that individual before he passed?

Hmm... It was good, very good. My parents were divorced, so I didn't see my father very often, but still every other weekend, and some holidays. It's much easier to see his faults in retrospect, but at the time I thought him without them. We bonded over nerdy things like building computer systems and Buffy: the Vampire Slayer. Maybe I'll expand in my blog thread sometime.

Have you ever wished someone dead and really, truly meant it; that is, not just in the heat of the moment?

rahdam
04-22-2009, 11:33 PM
When I read about rapists and murders, I do wish they would drop dead.
As I do not associate with these people, I haev never directly wished someone I knew dead.

Rudy
04-22-2009, 11:47 PM
I've barely had any for the last several years, mainly because it tastes nasty. I'm recently trying to acquire a taste for red wine, for the health benefits. We'll see how it goes.

What's the biggest risk you've taken?

rahdam
04-22-2009, 11:57 PM
Teach for America was a pretty big risk, but it paid off handsomely.
Going the military route is a big risk, but I feel very good about it.

To give you something more visceral:
Breaking up fights is always a risk, but the alternative is unconscionable, to me.
I've watched other ADULTS stand there and watch. I teach high school, and some of the kids are big, but damn. Standing there, watching? Fuck off.
There was a gun in my classroom several months ago.

You?

Rudy
04-23-2009, 12:04 AM
I'm afraid all of my answers are lame in comparison. =/

The most physically risky thing I've done is go swimming in a thunderstorm. That was just stupid, though, since there was nothing to be gained by it.

The bigger risk, for me, is putting myself on the line emotionally. Several times the risk hasn't worked out, but more recently it has.

The certain individual you mentioned earlier? Describe with one word your favorite, or one of your favorite, things about her. Or him, as the case may be.

rahdam
04-23-2009, 12:11 AM
(I'm sure gains to your cardiovascular health occured)
"Connection". Of course, "strong" and "loyal" rank highly. And many more.

What is your workout regimen?

Rudy
04-23-2009, 12:16 AM
Well, it used to be just 30 minutes of DDR per day, but now, under the banner of the Rudy Improvement Project, it's 1 hr. DDR every day. Situps (started with 30 a week ago, have been adding 2 a day, up to 46... we'll see how long I can keep up the increase,) pushups (started with a pathetic 5, been adding one per day in the same manner.) Also, curls.

My legs are already very strong from DDR, but I need to work on my upper body strength a lot.

Yours?

rahdam
04-23-2009, 12:23 AM
One of the following every day:
1.5 hours Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (grappling is insanely difficult)
1.5 hour "real gym" routine (lots and lots here, emphasis on pullups)
4 mile run around the lake
1 hour "home gym" routine (pushups, situps, planks, jumping rope, standing squats, stretch)

Listed in descending order of preference. "Home gym" is a stopgap if I don't have time to go out and do the others.

To be perfectly honest, I work out for both the health benefits and increased sex appeal (I can be a bit of a narcissist).

On that note, WHY do you work out?

Rudy
04-23-2009, 12:32 AM
It was previously almost entirely for the health benefits, which is why it was limited to cardiovascular (DDR.)

Only very recently have I become actively concerned with sex appeal.

I also want to develop some greater amount of upper body muscle for practical reasons; strength comes in useful in many ways.

rahdam

Strength is definitely useful. Functional strength.

It's an excellent way to pay for medical school, it allows me to see the world and serve my country, and it provides other avenues of training (flight school, firearms instruction, etc.) that are not available in civilian medicine. It gives me the best of both worlds.

I've been to online meet up's in the past for the intp forum. not sure it's something I am into just now though.

cats are better because they purr and have fuzzy belly's.

Rahdam, how long have you been with your girl, are you going to get married?

Rudy, is she an intj?

Rudy

I would, and have, meet other people from the forum. I've having lunch with Lycurgus tomorrow, actually, to discuss firearms. I'll be applying for a concealed carry when I get to Philly, and want his advice on some things.

We have both exchanged many pics, and talked over the phone, yes.

Is she INTJ? Seems likely, I mean, given the spread on here. :devilish:

rahdam: Same question (about meeting other forum members.)

If you had a one-way time travel ticket, which time period (past or future) would you choose to spend the rest of your life in, and why?

Synchronicity
04-23-2009, 10:56 AM
Couldn't rightly say without knowing what the future holds. I like this time period just fine, but if I had to choose, I would probably go back a few decades to the early 20th century. It was a time of great discovery in the fields of science, and my engineering knowledge would make me useful. I could perhaps meet Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer, Bertrand Russell, and other great minds, earn glory on the battlefield during WW2 (along with dysentery and post traumatic stress disorder), and watch the whole world tremble as 50 years of nuclear paranoia begin.

Mostly, I just want to fly a spitfire. *Makes machine gun noises with his lips*

I now have a large rectangular scar on my arm to remind me how stupid I was when I was a teenager. I'm sure the scar will help me be less of a hypocrite when I finally have moronic teenagers of my own.

What is the most vengeful act you have done? What did the target do to deserve your wrath?

ntwady
04-24-2009, 01:59 AM
I have never been much for overt, obvious vengeful attacks, but in my younger years I was known to be very passive aggressive. These days I have a pretty good handle on my anger response, but if that emotion becomes too intense, I retreat. I need time to introspect on those occasions; if I blow my top, I certainly lose.

I realize I didn't answer the question, but I am not a remarkably vengeful person. There is nothing worth noting from my history that is particularly over-the-top or out of the ordinary.

Theoretically, yes. I imagine it would go something like this:

"Then I suddenly noticed a Jordanian soldier from behind me. He looked into my eyes and was about to shoot me. It was an amazing moment: we were staring at each other for what seemed an eternity. I saw my whole life, a film version, flash through my mind. Then suddenly I snapped out of this trance - it must have been a millisecond - and I realised that whoever pulled the trigger first was going to survive. I guess I was faster. I shot him." -- Uri Geller's personal recollections from the Six Day War.

Why do you wish to change the world?

Jonathan Brewer

Yes, I've done it more than once, but the first time I was in my teens. I knew a woman who no matter what I accomplished or how I behaved, she treated me like white trash. I attributed it to her often accurate view of my parents. However, one has a right to be viewed based on their own actions and not to be relegated to a shadow of their predecessors. I once told her that I would give her until I was eighteen to form an opinion of me based solely on my behavior. If she failed in that regard, then I would ignore her existence from that day forward. That was when I was fourteen. Needless to say, she was rather shocked when I turned eighteen and did exactly as I said I would. :blank: (Boy, that was long.)

I've let go of any desire to live in another time or place. I've come to the conclusion that this is my time and this is my place. I wouldn't have it any other way. Just the same, if I had to choose, I'd go with the seventeenth century, preferably in France. :)
