Life is complex living in community so I like to savor the juices. One can groom theirself like a cat licking herself but ultimately we're all agents of chaos despite how much we intellectualize and systematize our lives. :D

What do you think of the Latin word "ludere"?

WyohKnott
03-29-2009, 09:18 PM
Meaning, "to play, mock, tease, or trick"? I... like it, I guess. It's an interesting collection of English words that are used to describe it - it makes me think that it's probably one of those words that can't be given an exact definition, and needs to be learned through context. If my idea of the meaning is correct, then I wish English had an equivalent, as I can already see think of reasons/ways to use it.
That's probably more than you wanted to know, but, oh well. :)

Based on my own behavior patterns. It would be humor as the influencer and getting the person to laugh and think outside their own box as the result.

How do you feel about the internet as related to your privacy rights?

I don't care. I let it all hang out. If some psychopath is going to snoop me then by all means. Now using public terminals and being redirected or profiled by intelligent individuals, that is annoying. I have been known to use TOR off my jump drive at the library but as you know there is still a risk factor with whoever is at the end of the pipe sniffing your passwords and traffic. My system at home is satellite-based at the moment so I can't route through it efficiently (limited total bandwidth consumption, latency).

Same.

gestalt added to this post, 6 minutes and 29 seconds later...

Why so confident in the system?

There are many incredible engineers who live eat breathe security and stability on the Net. I trust them to a certain degree.

What else about the Internet makes you afraid?

loosefanbelt
04-07-2009, 08:15 PM
Should some shift in power and authority take place, I fear that everything is loaded and ready for oppression and so forth. Like Rome and it's roads that made it permeable to be brought down. I do not trust that everyone has our best interests in mind. In fact, I think that how much we are on the grid is a bit disconcerting. All it would take is a Macarthy era-like inquisition... anyway this is my concern.

Does any thing about the net make you squeamish?

gestalt
04-07-2009, 08:23 PM
Yeah I've been in some pretty dark places in my explorations and what has been linked to me by "friends" that I hardly even know. Videos of people getting killed brutally, certain kinds of pornography, a tendency toward fear, anger, and nonsensical uneducated vitriol that pervades much of the common boards. It is both a boon and a curse in that it could very well be understood as a breeding ground for truly fucked up people as well as an information-sharing medium that is inherently self-educating. I also don't like how connected we all are all the time. I find myself turning off my phone and computer deliberately. Next it'll be my refrigerator when some weirdo orders me 200 cartons of jumbo eggs. LOL

You?

Rho1334
04-07-2009, 08:33 PM

The particular knife this young female acquaintance and I were looking at was interesting, very sharp, leather case, in fact of Finnish make etc. I was showing her how to test how sharp it was on the back of her thumbnail and she cut herself to the bone.
