purest white :p
You?
Forest green.
If you were a Ninja Turtle, which Ninja Turtle would you be?
loosefanbelt
03-02-2009, 08:50 PM
Sunset colored
I know not the turtles of which you speak to know which one mirrors my soul.
You?
Donatello. Naturally.
If you were an infectious disease, which infectious disease would you be? (I can keep this up until someone else asks a question ;) )
Nikita
03-02-2009, 09:00 PM
(Raphael!)
AIDS
If you were to support only one charity for the rest of your life, which would you support?
loosefanbelt
03-02-2009, 09:00 PM
Lockjaw. So I could use it when I wanted peace and quiet.
I would support Habitat for Humanity.
Where is the best place to find you on a Sunday afternoon?
I'm afraid I'm not an expert on charities. I've supported Goodwill, primarily because they give job training, rather than just handouts, so I'd probably choose them based on my limited knowledge.
My weekends are not functionally different from my weekdays. I work, and play, on either. So, anywhere, really. Here, most likely, of late. ;)
How do you feel about rainy days?
WyohKnott
03-02-2009, 09:05 PM
I like them, in moderation.
If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be and why?
Nikita
03-02-2009, 09:05 PM
rainy days: don't like to work on them, but love them otherwise
a shaolin temple in china, not for religious purposes...
How would you describe your most horrendous haircut/hairstyle?
Buzzcut. I have a frikken enormous cranium (as I'm sure everyone has noted.) If my hair is clipped too short, I look like a lightbulb.
Same question.
Nikita
03-02-2009, 09:10 PM
a perm as a kid, my mother's idea
To which fictional school would you like to go?
I'd like to say something less cliche than Hogwarts, but it's hard to beat learning magic.
EDIT: The Mages' Training School in the Saga of Recluse would work well for me, too. More discipline there, as well.
What fictional town would you most like to live in?
Jonathan Brewer
03-02-2009, 09:17 PM
Silverymoon
What mythical being do you most relate to?
Nikita's answer: Phoenix
Mine: Probably D&D elves, at least when it comes to my attitude towards life.
You?
Jonathan Brewer
03-02-2009, 09:24 PM
Dragons (good ones)
What is your favorite smell?
Subverted
03-02-2009, 10:30 PM
Huckleberries or a small mountain creek right after a rainstorm.
How many(if any) tickets have you gotten from law enforcement?
None. It's not that I don't speed, or whatnot, I just do so... judiciously.
What is the most illegal thing that you've gotten away with?
altoid
03-02-2009, 10:42 PM
Tickets: Just two tickets. One speeding ticket and one seat-belt violation - that one was going to be a speeding ticket, but he changed his mind while he was writing it. He said I reminded him of his daughter. :p
Illegal thing: I really can't think of anything illegal I've done...a straight arrow I am. Perhaps trespassing.
Same question. What is the most illegal thing that you've gotten away with?
Shoplifting a few times as a young teenager. I was a punk; no excuses...
If you could transmit one idea/invention/concept to an ancient civilization, which would you choose?
Subverted
03-02-2009, 10:48 PM
The atomic bomb...civilizations in past times would learn the dangers quickly and grow to fear it...I hope. None of this mutually assured destruction crap.
What is your favorite band?
I really don't have a favorite. If I had to pick, then probably Billy Joel. Or, if you meant a band consisting of several personalities, probably the Eagles. It's really not a strong preference, though.
You?

To the next poster, do you have any birth defects? If so, what kind(s)?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 05:27 AM
I actually have a knot on the side of my neck. It's not visible, but you can feel it. I like to refer to myself as Frankenstein. :) (heh, how fun, my first post of the day put me at 3000 posts :p)
Have you ever seen someone with six fingers on one hand?
Tranquillity
03-03-2009, 06:21 AM
yes. The kid had a finger branching off the little finger.
What are you thinking about right now?
I'm thinking about the poor little kid with a finger branching off of his little finger. Before that I was thinking about my recent acceptance to U.Penn's econ program.
What are you most dreading in the next... week?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 06:34 AM
(A waiter at a Mexican restaurant had the exact same thing!)
This weather better seriously warm up like they say it is... I wonder why he hasn't replied... I wonder if the paper work really will go through by the beginning of next week. My hair is really getting on my nerves today... :p
Dreading paying some medical bills... Actually, I'm more irritated than dreading. :p
What word do you seem to use the most in a day?
Obviously it's one of the common words: "the", "a", etc. However, the words/phrases I seem to use ubiquitously, as compared to other people, include: "fatuous", "in any case", and "interesting."
Yourself?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 06:50 AM
Actually... I'm noticing that I use actually WAY TOO MUCH!
What are you looking forward to this week? (If anything :p)
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 06:55 AM
Work. I actually have some!
You?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:02 AM
Returning the signed paperwork back to the attorney... And getting my car insurance changed. :)
Do you drink coffee? If so how do you drink it? (black, cream and sugar, etc.)
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 07:06 AM
No, yuk!
How much coffee do you consume a day & are you happy with that amount?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:08 AM
Hmmm I drink coffee maybe once a month, so I think that averages down to like a tablespoon a day ;)... Tea on the other hand is a different story... And I'm okay with both of those amounts. :p
Do you own a lot of clothes?
Wapiti
03-03-2009, 07:13 AM
I've got half a closet full and 3 drawers packed. I usually only where a select few things though and could likely get rid of a bunch.
You?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:23 AM
Even after throwing over 1/3 of my wardrobe away... I still have my closet crammed full of clothes (two racks worth) and even more in the shelves of my dressers... I think I've got an addiction. :(
When you smile do you show your teeth or not?
Only if the emotion involved (happiness, amusement, etc.) is very strong. I smile a lot, but the teeth are probably only shown once or twice a day.
How much money would someone have to pay you to shave your head? (You're allowed to grow it back out.)
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 07:28 AM
Not usually, but I rarely really smile. (Although lately I've been smiling quite a bit. Life is good...)
Clearly, yours do...
Shave head: Nothing, I'd probably do it on a dare, but you'd all have to love me anyway as I grew it back (which would take forever!)...
Can you keep your eyes open when you sneeze?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:29 AM
It would never, ever happen. They could offer me a million dollars and I still wouldn't do it. Seriously... No way.... I can't even cut it any shorter than my chin as it is. :p
Dear God, no way. My sneezes are vicious. :p (LoL, yeah nearly all my pictures show my teeth!)
Do you have a business card?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 07:30 AM
Yes
Do you?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:31 AM
Yep, and I think I've given out a whopping five of them. :p Never knew why I needed them....
Do you ever physically write letters anymore or type them all up now?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 07:34 AM
I write letters when I want to convey something more personal
When you type a letter, do you sign it with a pen or do you use a computer signature or stamp?
I do occasionally. I like writing in cursive; I even have a journal I sometimes write in. It's a purely sentimental act on my part, born out of some nostalgic wistfulness I have for an age of pen and ink.
If it's something I print out, then I sign it with a pen.
Yourself?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:37 AM
Sign it with a pen! At work we had all of our signatures scanned in... I always forgot to use mine though. :p
If a person has bad breath do you let them know in some way or do you just let it go?
If it's a long term relationship of some kind, I try to let them know (unless it's my boss, or someone with direct power over me.) If I'll only be seeing them a few times, I let it go.
What basic courtesy or "table manner" do you find most off-putting when it is lacking?
Mozzes
03-03-2009, 07:45 AM
Demanding instead of asking or politely requesting.
you?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:49 AM
I get kind of annoyed at family meals when someone asks how things are going and before I can even answer they are already rambling about themselves...
What food would you classify as your weakness?
I was thinking of "talking with food in your mouth," and other petty things myself, but yours is a far more important one, I have to admit, so I'm going to steal it.
Dark chocolate!
Do you have a will? If so, who is/are your beneficiaries?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 07:55 AM
I don't have a will, but I do have life insurance, and my parents are my beneficiaries.... Even when I got married... I never changed it...
You ?
No will, no life insurance, but I am in the process of creating a will.
Do you have any nationalistic feeling?
no. frankly, i cannot see that we have a nation any longer.
if you had some kids, and they were nitwits, who would you leave your earthly possessions to?
Mozzes
03-03-2009, 08:03 AM
Nationalistic feelings? I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that. I would say I love my country but I would stop well short of considering myself a jingoist, fascist, etc.
I plan on leaving most of whatever wealth I have when I die to charity regardless of if my offspring is competent enough to inherit it.
Do you think you'll be a person who welcomes retirement or do you think you'll work until you die?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 08:08 AM
I think I'll work till I die... Most of my working life I've held multiple jobs at once... The only reason I'm not now is because I'm going back to school.
You?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 08:09 AM
All I want to do is play, so retirement will be awesome! Although I have a terrible need to work, I think if I keep myself busy with the fun, it won't matter...
You?
If they were *complete* nitwits, I would still probably leave them some money, but the rest of it, and any interesting things I had would either go to friends or other, more interesting relatives (the future children of my sisters, for example, if they were nifty enough.)
I will probably "officially" work until I am at least 70. Then I'll work on other interests...
Do you enjoy organizing (as distinct from cleaning)?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 08:14 AM
ETo view links or images in this forum your post count must be 15 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. no. The only thing I seem to be anal retentive about organizing is the way my music is saved on my PC. :p

... What? Sorry, I was categorizing my book shelves...
Do you stand or dance in the rain, just for the feel of it?
Mozzes
03-03-2009, 08:19 AM
Of course.
Don't you?
As long as it's not too close to freezing, absolutely. Especially in thunderstorms, which makes me especially stupid.
What's the most you've ever spent on a single meal?
loosefanbelt
03-03-2009, 08:26 AM
There was that sneaky sushi dinner that ended up being well over $100 per person.... regrets....
YOU?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 08:29 AM
Hmm... Probably $20ish... Japanese... Hibachi grill, YUM!
Do you enjoy dressing up?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 08:33 AM
I do if it's for someone & they are pleased. Myself, I'd rather be comfortable...
You? (I think I already know the answer)
Harmony
03-03-2009, 08:58 AM
Mostly I would rather stay casual... But it's like once or twice a year I get the urge to dress up and make myself look like a hollywood star. :p So 363 days a year I'm just you average girl next door, and 2 days are spent as a starlet. ;)
What color grabs your attention more than any other color?
Mozzes
03-03-2009, 08:58 AM
dressing up: I do, actually, if not all the time.
color: red...it's quite...provocative.
Do you enjoy climbing trees?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 09:00 AM
Yes!!! I swear, I'm like a monkey sometimes! Trees, rocks, counter tops, houses (don't ask)...
You ?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 09:03 AM
Of course! I'm an avid tree climber. I do love trees!
Do you hike?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 09:05 AM
When the weather is nice I do like to make trips over to the Garden of the Gods (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 15 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) to go hiking. :)
You ?
Mozzes
03-03-2009, 09:09 AM
I live about an hour drive from the AT. I'd love to be able to hike the entire thing one of these days.
How much do you walk per day?
dalidaisy
03-03-2009, 09:10 AM
Depends on the weather, but I usually do 4-5 miles at the gym & probably another mile or two outside of that. More on the weekends, especially if hiking.
Do you prefer walking, jogging or running?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 09:20 AM
I usually walk... Because if I'm in the neighborhood walking I'm most likely with my mom. If I'm alone I'll jog.
Do you have any injuries from sports?
WyohKnott
03-03-2009, 09:58 AM
Do you mean ones that will never fully heal? If so, none very serious... I do have this odd bruise that turned into a lump that won't go away, but it doesn't hurt anymore. As for other, less permanent ones, I've had too many to count... (I'm involved in karate, and it's definitely not gentle on the body)
Do you have to make yourself exercise, or do you enjoy it enough that you look forward to it?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 10:36 AM
Usually I have to make myself. Unless it's abs or arms, it's just anything that involves my knee that hurts me.
Would you make a good tutor?
I make myself exercise with DDR!
I do make an excellent tutor, or so tutees have told me...
Do you gamble? (This includes lottery tickets/scratch-offs)
WyohKnott
03-03-2009, 10:46 AM
No, I've never understood the appeal of it...
What is the strangest/most unpleasant way you've ever been woken up?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 11:16 AM
My boyfriend at the time strangling me in my sleep... Yeah, that was a fun conversation once I got his ass to stop dreaming and wake up.
What do you think is the worst "7 Deadly Sins" to have?
WyohKnott
03-03-2009, 11:18 AM
Probably... sloth.
Same question.
Harmony
03-03-2009, 11:23 AM
I think for me it's greed...
Do you drink milk?
WyohKnott
03-03-2009, 11:28 AM
Yes, but recently it's been affecting me oddly, so I'm going to try cutting it out.
What is the weirdest food or combination of foods that you like?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 11:36 AM
I like to eat tuna fish on pretzels... My mom seems to think I'm weird for that...
You ?
WyohKnott
03-03-2009, 11:44 AM

I like bacon and bananas together - a bite of each, at the same time.
Do you prefer to be slightly too cold, or slightly too warm?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 11:47 AM
Slightly too warm! Nobody can stand to be in a room with me if I have control of a heater. ;)
(Never heard of bacon and bananas together... I'll try just about anything once!)
At a restaurant what do you typically get to drink?
tp6626
03-03-2009, 12:03 PM
Cola, Guinness or sometimes a fruit juice, depending on the meal. Oh and if it's an indian, then usually lager, but I won't usually drink lager, just make the exception for curry!
You?
Harmony
03-03-2009, 12:05 PM
Usually sweet tea or water.
Do you ever get hangovers?
altoid
03-03-2009, 12:58 PM
Yes, I'll usually just feel really woozy and weak. They're always the worst when I drink too much wine.
You?

03-03-2009, 01:12 PM
I've only had a few... It's usually a killer headache and I'm super weak.
Do you take compliments well ?
Hasway
03-03-2009, 01:14 PM
no. I find the bad part of them.
How often to you give compliments?
SimplyOtter
03-03-2009, 02:04 PM
Often. But it's not praising, I do think the things I say.
How often do you feel like telling somebody he/she is amazing, and then refrain because you fear it's too much?
altoid
03-03-2009, 02:06 PM

How often do you feel like telling someone (s)he is amazing, and then do so?

How often do you let yourself be completely happy?
Jonathan Brewer
03-03-2009, 02:44 PM
A few times a day but only for short spurts. I am always completely happy when I first come home and my girls come running to me screaming, "Daddy!". ;D
What "necessary" thing do you hate most about your life?

What is the most "physically" painful thing you have ever experienced?
loosefanbelt
03-03-2009, 02:53 PM
When my husband was dying it took all of everything I had and more physically to take care of him at home. Many things that I cannot mention here. I have never felt that taxed physically in my life. I strained many parts of my body to the "almost breaking" point. I would not change it, though.
You?
Jonathan Brewer
03-03-2009, 03:05 PM
Wow, I can't even begin to imagine. I am very sorry. I think the most physically excruciating pain I've dealt with has either been kidney stones or severe toothache. It is hard to tell. The kidney stone felt like someone had shattered my organs. The toothache felt like someone stabbed me in the head with an icepick. *shudders*
What is the fulfilling thing you have ever experienced?

Sound and light installation that my beloved and I did together a year before his death.
You?
ClydeB
03-04-2009, 02:34 PM
Physically painful thing? That would have to be live with a burst appendix for almost one calendar day before breaking down and going to the hospital. Doctors were amazed I didn't die. My first (and only) kidney stone is a somewhat close second. Needless to say I do not hesitate to get checked out now once I hit that level of pain and symptoms.
Fulfilling thing? I'd have to say it was achieving a life goal I set myself as a teen to get to by the year 2000. Which was about 15 years in the future at the time.
What is something you have always wanted to do in your life, but have not gotten to yet?

Do you have a home theatre system?
Jonathan Brewer
03-04-2009, 10:54 PM
No and truthfully don't want one. I hate television and I never have the patience to watch two hours of video... unless it is the Lord of the Rings. ;D
If you could make yourself look like anyone else (body, face, etc.), who would it be?

If you could make yourself look like anyone else (body, face, etc.), who would it be?
If you had asked me years ago, I could have rambled off numerous individuals, but at this point in my life, I have gained a certain maturity & find that I'd rather be me than anyone else...
You?
Jonathan Brewer

The same actually. If I had to pick someone else to look like it would likely be someone like Sean Connery... but that is only because he is a god. ;D
What is the most important thing for someone to learn in life (in your opinion)?

What is the most painful lesson you have learned in life?

I haven't watched an episodic tv show in about two years... the last one I liked was House, but I stopped after the third season.

Whatcha gonna have for lunch?
Wapiti
03-05-2009, 10:13 AM
I don't know. I was hoping what you were having would sound good and I'd just have to have the same but salad isn't the thing. I've eaten so much salad for lunch lately. So yeah, doesn't sound great as I've eaten salad almost every week day for over a year.

How long can you hold your breath under water?
Wapiti

The longest I've ever held my breath underwater was 2 minutes but that was quite a while ago.

No more than 30 seconds. I'm sure I could survive a good deal longer, but I've never been able to force myself to stay under longer than that; the instinct is too strong.

Car accident. The bump from the sideswipe, the airbag, the skidding off the road, the kid screaming, the husband driving... I freaked. I much prefer to be in the driver seat in such a situation.

How much would you like to be pampered (if money and time were no object and pamperers were in abundance)?
Jonathan Brewer

Only moderately so. I'd have my own driver, maid, gardener, and maybe a cook. I don't need anything fancy though. I'd just like a nice mansion on Maui. ;D
What is the most irrational belief you hold?
fomatizer
03-05-2009, 06:34 PM
That everything has already happened and life is a process of realizing and processing what has happened, but I would put this no higher than suspicion. I have no irrational beliefs that I know of.
Do you believe in fate?
Nikita

If you were going to live a hermetic existence, what would you do with your time in isolation (what would you study, write, do, etc.)?

I would probably dedicate all my time to writing my novel. And study information to ensure that everything in my novel was fairly accurate.
How often do you do laundry?

I would regret any lovemaking without love. I have had really very few partners sexually in comparison to most people my age because I am not interested in sex without love.
What are your beliefs and convictions regarding sexual expression?
llBradll
03-06-2009, 08:52 AM
I think that as long as you're clear about the intentions then its alright. I would prefer to have sex with somebody I love, but at the same time its hard to find somebody to love, and I don't feel like somebody should be denied sex just because they haven't found love. While there can be a meaning behind it we also just have a physical urge for it which should be satisfied just like getting sleep and eating.

llBradll, the tenor of your comment has the quality of a response to my comment (not merely the question I asked.) I just want to be clear that I was not judging others by what I determine to be right for myself. And since we are seeming to respond to each other, I would also comment that even though I have a pretty high libido for a woman that there are many ways to satisfy those needs beyond having sex with a partner. Just saying.

I wasn't responding in a way to your previous comment. While it may have affected my comment by being directly previous, I wasn't judging you or saying that you're judgemental (I think thats what you're asking) I also know that there are other ways to satisfy the needs, at the same time I think actual sex is a superior way. I'm terribly finicky about spelling and grammar... other than that, I can't really think of anything.
Theme song: According to a couple people, it should be "Misery Business" (by Paramore) for reasons way too complicated to explain here, but that's not really my choice... a couple months ago, I favored "So What", by P!nk, but now I don't know.
I'll repeat the theme song question.

Just off the top of my head, it really pisses me off that people die of hunger and hunger related issues. There's no reason for that in this day and age. I wouldn't let bitterness from the past or fear of the future hinder me anymore. I would surrender all doubt and place full trust in the God so many denounce. In other words, I would stop letting my "T" bind me and I would let my "F" go free. :)

My favorite vacation thus far was in 1987 to visit my oldest sister who was living on Oahu at the time. She lived in a little out of the way place and we got to see a side of Hawaii I doubt many see, cock fights and all. We went snorkeling, played in the surf. My dad broke his arm in the surf, I nearly broke my back ([popped all the way up to my neck) - the waves were over 30 feet tall, surfing competition was canceled and yet we were playing in the surf! We visited much of the island, the USS Arizona, whatever the volcano was, we threw peas at each other while snorkeling and the fish would just attack (I don't think that's allowed anymore) - the memories I will never forget. :)
