One of these threads brought up the question of racial make-up of the INTJ population.

So here's a poll...
Please let me know if I missed certain racial groups... or if you want to make this more specific.

Male, hispanic/caucasian. Had to vote for only one of them, so I went with Hispanic.

I'm a Viking/Highlander. So I went with the closest thing, even though I have no bloodlines out of the Caucasus Mountains.

I actually never really figured out why people seperate hispanic and caucasian in polls. Anyone want to enlighten me?

Asked my aunt, who is a Geography Professor, and told me it's incorrect. Even though we have native-american blood in our veins, we mostly descend from Spanish/Italian Europeans, who are, by definition, caucasian.

Cultural identity? Separation of the European Spanish from the Hispanic-American culture?

A 20 minute drive from downton San Diego to the middle of TJ would probably be the best way to achieve this.

Male other. I'm Anglo American. I'm from the long lineage of the great potato eaters of Ireland. My people, unlike the Caucasians, do not have the ability to tan...

There was sarcasm in that btw...

That's IT?

I was hoping there might be some sort of real difference in ancestry or something...

Time to read up...

I'm also a descendant of Northern/Western Europeans that are incapable of tanning.

There is a distinct difference in culture and genetics. Hispanics are part Spanish and part "Native" American, or, more accurately, part Asian. There is a distinct pecking order among Hispanic people based on how much native is visible in their features - the more, the lower their social status.

"White" or European people are never Hispanic (they may be Spanish/Spaniards), though for some reason the census lumps them together because of the above-mentioned pecking order that causes some to see themselves as "White" because they have more European genes.

In European circles there is also a pecking order - darker people (In particular: Spaniards, Italians, Greeks, Portuguese, and most south-central and south-eastern Europeans) are generally lower socially than those of lighter skin tone. The EU members have tried to exclude many of these countries or they were only admitted later.

You're thinking of Mestizo's: mixed ancestry of natives and Europeans. Otherwise, there is a big difference between Spaniards and Latin Americans. Technically speaking, "hispanic" is a demographic term based on language. As for the pecking order comment, the reverse is also true as many Caucasian-looking Latin Americans are poked fun at and called "Guer@s" ("Whitey's") - but not necessarily in a derogatory sense.
