I understand that normal users have black user names, moderators have blue user names, and that administrators have red user names. However, I'm curious what the teal user name color signifies.

Examples: 1 (http://www.intjforum.com/member.php?u=3124) and 2 (http://www.intjforum.com/member.php?u=4185)

At first I thought it denoted new users, but after looking at the profiles it seems they aren't that new. Also they (or at least these two) have the same avatars. I don't mean to put the spotlight on anyone, but I'm just curious.

Has anyone else noticed this? What do you think it is? Or if you do know, what does this color name really mean? Also, are there any other user name colors on this forum and what do they mean?

I'm guessing that they're probably vBulletin users/technicians/mods/admins, but then again they might be forum ninjas :ninja:

(I know there's another thread out there about user name colors, but I don't remember it explaining this. I would have posted this there, but I couldn't find it.)

When I've seen the teal color it was for a new member who was still in the process of registering. Which explains why your second example is now black. I have no idea why Dave CC has a strange color since he is not a new member.

The mummy looking avatar that shows up when you click their profile is the default for everyone without an avatar.

I actually noticed this a while back with another established member:Erica Redmark. It was not too long after her last post (she seems to have left the board?) and was that way for maybe a week before changing back to black.

The teal color denotes accounts in need of email authentication in order to become active. These accounts are also supposed to be invisible to the online list as the coloration and indeed their listing is only useful to administrators in this case, but vB is not cooperating on that point at the moment.

I was pretty sure that it was for new members also since I remember having that color when I started, but I know I've seen Dave CC before with that color and so I check his post count. It seemed a bit high for a new member. I only added the other member because, as I said before, I don't mean to make the thread about any one person. I don't think I'd like it to find a thread was made about me even if the topic is innocent like this one.

Weird. I remember seeing her around, but only with the black user name.

I liked it better thinking they were ninjas. :embarassed:

...but I guess that doesn't mean there aren't any forum ninjas out there :stunned:

Even established members will turn teal if they change their email address and don't verify the new email.
