I had an ISFJ friend who stood there with her hands in her pockets for a whole concert.
That took all the fun out of it for me.

I tend to do that, but I'll make an effort to fake it if I see it's important for my friend (it usually is).
I think my natural behavior is too silently enjoy the event. Most of the time I have my arms crossed and my hand would be touching my chin or face in some way. However I have also learned to let go of my thinking side during these events as it seems more appropriate. When watching a soccer match I even jump up every now and then and speak my thoughts out loud. But still, this happens on my terms.
It must be said, that these events are often accompanied with a decent amount of alcohol. And the influence of that...well I'll leave that to another thread :)

I'll cheer if something good happens...but then again, I'm very rarely at a concert or sporting event.

Sporting events, I'm more of an observer.
Concerts would have to depend how much of a fan of the band I am. I've been to one concert in my life (for my favorite band). It was front row. Awesome fun.
I'm usually pretty enthusiastic if I like the performer enough to go so such an event... but not to the point of wildness

I tend to get all excited. I whistle (with my fingers) shout, jump, etc. I wonder where I learned that if it doesn't come from my type?
I had 2 aunts who used to act kind of wild and crazy and I used to act like them, too. It was fun.

I usually don't go to concerts or sporting events (in fact, it's been a couple years since I last went to one), but when I do, I'll quietly sit down and watch. In fact, it usually bothers me when somebody sitting next to me screams, cheers, or whistles. Then again, I'd probably be a bit more enthusiastic if I actually went to an event that I liked, like a Weird Al concert or something.

There was no choice for standing on the sidelines taking pictures, clapping at the end of songs, and watching people jump around in the pit.
So I chose the hands in pockets one, cuz that's closest

It really is dependent on the performer--there are bands I make the effort to see who have incredible energy, but their music is so complex it's almost impossible to sensibly keep up without maintaining a pretty firm focus on the stage, and there are bands with a different kind of energy that set the entire crowd off that I love becoming a part of.
Most of my favorite local bands, I'll stand in the front, keep my hands at my sides but kind of do a percussiony-thing with them when I'm into it, and move a fair amount to the rhythms with one of my feet. Though I'll barely move my upper-body, I'm generally one of the very few to move around except for the drunks.
If I go to a concert, it's to see the show. I'm gonna get into it if I like it, and I don't care how silly or out-of-place I might look. There have been a number of shows where the front row of the audience stood two or three feet away from the stage, except for me--slowly, the audience would close the space up to the front of the stage, but . . . well, the rituals of live music events are pretty fascinating, though more often in depressing ways.

Haha. I'm more in the middle. I go to performances and games for my highschool, but I don't do overkill on the jumping. Only at games. I usually just cheer. I love soccer! at the end of the game we all run out to our players and crowd them. haha. Who Say HACE THE BEETDIGGER POSSE!!!!!!
We beetdiggers. sad huh?

I don't go to concerts much but for the most part I'm just sort of rocking back and forth or whatever and watching the guitarist trying to take notes.
At sporting events I'm very vocal/emotional..whatever you want to call it. Now I'm not one of these guys who stands up, faces the crowd when the team is out of it and is all "Come on, everybody! Let's make some noise!!!" lol. But I can appreciate the drama in sports and I definitely go along for the ride.
But I also play sports, so I don't know if that is part of the reason.

I enjoy the experience of the sporting event but have no problem with sitting there quietly the entire time, crossing my arms, maybe playing on a GameBoy, reading, or writing. I'll only clap, and then only if there's someone there encouraging me to do more than that. There usually is. For concerts, I've never been to the type of concert that you seem to be writing about. I'd probably just stand there, clap, and wish that I had a seat?

i got a bunch of "orcs" follow me... just for the psych experiment. as an experiment, i dressed the spookiest goth kid i could ever be then i moshed with the crowd... i pushed them and told them, "get the fuck off" the guy there was supposed to punch my face but he just punched the other guy. so there was a riot on one side. then as i was puching my way to the middle, everyone backed off so have my wide open space and no one dared touch me. the band who played suck so when they saw me just folded my arms and stared at the "band" they stopped banging their heads... i was thinking, "now this is fun :D" then i shooted, "BOO" and they followed.
conclusions:
1. media plays a vital role to teenagers in their search for identity, to be specific, music
2. because of that frustration, most teenagers become posers
3. teenagers seek authority when it comes to "self-seeking"
4. in relation to number three, they would rely, as a source of info, those who are "coolest" or who scares them off (except for parents)
---------
i do attend gigs and stuff as my life revolved mostly in art exhibits and music. i mosh, clap, shout, howl with people in bands i love to watch... but only when i already had 5 bottles of beer.

i'm usually in the pit. actually in every concert i've been to i've been in the pit.
the only reason i don't like it is my back starts to hurt.
but, i love the anonymity. i like feeling the bass in my chest. i like pushing against the crowd as the people start moving all together.
concerts are a good time. i think my Se is fully exerted there. I don't like vocalizing that much though. i'll holler sometimes. i clap.
i voted in the middle.

also, for sporting events, i just criticize everything and boo and stuff. i think sports are pretty silly. who cares who wins or loses. doesn't change anything.

It depends. I have my moments but most of the time I'm sitting there just taking it all in, and logically most people think I'm not having a good time when I'm actually am. I especially get it now that I'm smart enough to drive on my own so I can leave when I want to. I can do that stuff, I just can't close the place down like some of my friends like to do.

I generally don't go to sporting events. The college I attend is . . . [in]famous for having rowdy, or more often downright hostile fans. I'm (obviously) a bit introverted, and I also hate mob mentality. I used to go to football games several years ago, and if/when I didn't cheer or boo, there was almost always an intoxicated fan to get in my face (sometimes not-so-metaphorically) and tell me that I should be participating. Ended up just skipping games to watch tv, or do homework, or chill and read books.

Wow... um, I tend to sit there silently, and not only don't I cheer, I have to cover my ears and cringe every time the others do, because it's too loud and unnerving for me. I hate going to sporting events or other place where people tend to be rowdy. I was nervous in school half the time because the other kids were too loud and boisterous.

It's a good thing you weren't at my class reunion.
I was very rowdy.
It didn't occur to me that it bothers some people.
