What's your hours of operational status?
A.K.A When are you up and when do you go to sleep?

Naturally leaning toward night owl. *Unfortunately, I have to wake up at 6:30 am just to cram in work before classes...
And shouldn't it be "What ARE your hours of operation?"

I sleep at around 1:00 and get up around 8:30. When I was in university, I used to goto sleep at 4 am and wake up at 11:30. :o

Normal inclination: night owl. Lately: random. It's some weird combination of night owl/early bird. I usually don't go to bed until around 3 am and I wake up around 6-7 am. I try to balance it out with 1-2 hour naps during the day.

I have always loved the night, but unfortunately I have too many daytime commitments now. but seeing as I only sleep 4-5hrs a night it doesn't make much of a difference.
That would be an interesting question to follow next : how long do you sleep for.
If student life didn't interfere, I'd sleep at 5am and wake up at 11am every day. I'm most efficient when the sun is down, and I dislike wasting time in dreamland. I only need 6 hours of sleep to operate anyway.

Definitely an early bird. Up no later than 7AM no matter what (weekend, holiday, unemployed, etc...). Normal workday starts at 5AM but ends by 3PM - me likee :D

Considering the sun is coming up soon, I'd say I like the night. I think it is the quiet I like most, I just have always seemed more active after the sun sets.

I lean towards night owl, but if I'm on a proper sleep schedule, I can function early quite well too.

dedicated night owl. i work nights/weekends, and usually don't wake up until noonish.
ed: however my schedule is generally malleable, if it's a big flip flop i'd have to use a sleep aid. but i'm very adaptable as far as sleep, or lack thereof, goes.
Early bird here, usually I'm awake by 5:30 in the morning.

Actually I do like waking up early too. I feel so accomplished when I finish a bunch of things before everyone else is even awake. However, I tend to be more focused at the end of the day rather than before the day starts; so I work best at night.
Unfortunately my body needs sleep though I wish it didn't. Otherwise I'd be awake for 23 hours a day. 5am-4am
I just like it cause no one else is up. And your right it feels nice to get thing over and done with before anyone else is up. And also most of the streets dont have people on them ;)
I voted for random, but I do prefer to be up during the day. I generally go to sleep when I'm tired, and then wake up whenever. On average I'm up for 18-24 hours, but some days it's considerably less and some days it's considerably more. How much sleep I get depends on how long I was up. I slept for 12 hours last time, and I was up for around 40 hours. On average I sleep 4-5 hours leaning towards four hours for the past couple of months.
My natural hours are pretty late, but since everyone wants me to work daylight hours, I am forced to go to bed earlier than reasonable and get up rather early. Sad, but it's how life goes...

work obligation (monday-friday)...wake 4:30 am; sleep 10 pm (before i found this forum)
weekends- wake noon; sleep 4am

How do you manage that? I remember the jetlag when I visited HK. I was awake, but I felt retarded during mornings for a full week.

Early bird when I have to work, night owl on my days off.
Great topic. I'm always interested in other people's habits...
I'm naturally awake by 7am and in bed no later than 12 - usually 11.

Your tolerance of caffeine must be incredible.

Wouldn't it be more efficient... not to mention healthy if you just adjusted your sleeping pattern to make your work schedule?

Another night owl here! Basically, I love it because I get full rule of the house ie. no one else hogging the TV and computer. That and the peace and quiet.
Also, I don't do mornings. Noon, for me, seems like a perfectly reasonable time to get up. Unfortunately, my family seem to disagree. I'm not lazy (well, OK, I am a bit) but it's just that when I stay up I don't want to sleep (I often lose the battle with my body to stay up later) but then when I'm asleep I don't want to get up. I prefer to sleep about 10 hours, although this has gone up to about 12 hours and down to about 4 hours when I have to go somewhere.

healthy- yes
efficient- not necessarily so
i just get so involved with projects or reading that time stands still as it flies by
i believe my ideal time schedule would reflect my weekend hours...but finding any job that suites that schedule has the drawback of reduced pay compared to what i'm currently earning...
my longterm outlook is to retire when i'm 58.5 (401k withdrawal without penalty) and not a minute later... so i'd like to keep on track financially
just saying
i just get so involved with projects or reading that time stands still as it flies by
Enough said.

I'm not a morning person and am a sound sleeper who really enjoys getting 9 hours of shut-eye. (Eight hours is okay; seven hours or less more than two days in a row will nearly wipe me out.) My preference is to go to bed after midnight and get up around 9:00. Work and other commitments don't always allow me that luxury, though.

Night owl, entirely. Always have been. My evil mom lady always enforced bedtimes, at least until high school, but I'd always stay up until crazy hours and be difficult to wake up for school. When stuck with a job where waking up was required, I would attempt to train myself to go to bed early, but it hardly ever worked. Now, I work night shift. Ah! The only shift that matters.

Why is "Normal" an option twice on this poll? I didn't think there were that many of us who were normal that we would need double the selections . . .

Typo...
Wasn't like that when I made it....dunno what happened to it.
The polls weren't transferred over so I recreated them all manually... I thought it was just my typo. But when I looked over at the old one, it looks like it also had normal twice. As old as that poll is, nobody noticed until now, and I didn't notice when I was copying it? Heh. This is the old poll here. (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)
I did make another mistake on this poll though and left out an option. Fixed that.

I'm an early bird (all my life). I get up early (5:30 am), feed the cat, take the dog out, eat breakfast, watch the news, get ready for work and get there on time. I work all day, come home, feed the cat, take the dog out, fix dinner, take my daughter to belly dancing, shower, sew, take the dog out again, and read. Then I go to sleep around 10:00 pm (if I can stay awake that long).
