My attempt at a boredom killing game:
Here is how the game works. An identifiable phrase is presented from a work of at least semi popular entertainment (movie, game, song, etc...). Books are excluded since the context can be hard to google. Your job is to first tell us where it is from and then explain the philosophical meaning. If the first explanation that comes to your mind is rather shallow just pretend you are B.S.ing for depth on an essay question.
When you are done with that, provide a phrase for the next person. If the phrase could have come from multiple works, provide a hint.
What is the purpose of this? nothing really. I guess at the most you are forcing people to hunt for meaning in things they may have missed or never saw / heard / played.
I will start with an easy one:
"the cake is a lie"
"the cake is a lie"
"the cake is a lie"
"the cake is a lie"
"the cake is a lie"
