I haven't figured out if I can change that to only counting members (cause a lot of 'guests' are yahoo bots)... but we also had the most members ever online this morning by double our previous amount. There were 49 online this morning... up from our previous record of 25.

Oh. I didn't realize bots did that. Do you mean like search engines?

Most members is even cooler!

It's probably because we can no longer lurk in "guest mode" and see all the features :P

I have to say, I'm REALLY surprised at how active this forum is. I would never have taken a myers-briggs type based forum to have a such a surprisingly large and active user base

edit: speaking of which, how old is this forum? I get the impression that it's only 3-4 months old. Which also makes the whole 500+ concurrent user thing pretty shocking. Did you guys go on an advertising blitz or something, or is this all word of mouth / wikipedia entry

Not even 3-4 months yet. Tomorrow it will be 2 months since the first guest registered.

Not sure how to judge the age though, it was installed September 1st but for the first couple of weeks it was just me and a couple of friends setting up and making starter threads. It went public and we had our first guest registration on September 12th.

I've had some support from other high traffic MBTI sites which helped a lot, as well as word of mouth and search engine hits. Honestly though, I never expected it to grow this fast.

Perhaps the time-out settngs for logged on users are different?

I was talking about the general trend, not today.... I mostly judge the activity based on how hard it is to keep up with threads and new members rather than how many members are online.

As for the user activity, having hundreds of users online doesn't mean they are logged on members. As I keep saying, yahoo sometimes sends an army of crawlers. There are probably a lot on today in particular because all of the forum addresses changed and needs to be reindexed.

Interesting, I also thought intjforums, was about 3-4 months old, not bad within this few months.
