Couldnt decide what subject this would come under, it fit Philosphy best (my eyes)
I find myself more and more retreating into a realm where books and my thoughts occupy more and more of my longing and desires than sex does. Sex still holds an appeal, but it's slowly becoming less and less important to me and I was wondering if others felt the same way.
INTP FEMALE PERSON Says:
now i don't wonder that you get so little sex =P
Shai Gar - says:
it's purely by choice
Shai Gar - says:
i could have sex a few times a week, but the women here are not worth it
Shai Gar - says:
but yeah, so few women meet those standards that it just isnt worth it
Shai Gar - says:
i have books enough to sate my passions
INTP FEMALE PERSON says:
so you're prepared to live your life out as a bachelor?
Shai Gar - says:
i have my books
That's the conversation that brought it to mind, and i posted it here merely for reference. (if offensive i'll remove it).

You can get yourself castrated so that you'll focus only on books and not get any other distractions...
Just a suggestion. ;)

To each their own. I say that the only way to succeed in life is to do whatever it is YOU want to do. I'm kind of Ayn Rand-ish that way.

Sex is always an interest, the process of seduction a passion. *Books are great, but I have "my fill" of books if I've read for over 6 or so hours in a day.
Balance in life is great. I find I'm happiest when engaged in some form of work for about 4 hours per day, another 6 engaged in some form of learning or intellectual activity, 2 on entertainment, one on exersize, and 4 or so spending time with people I respect.

Only partially kidding. Sometimes i envy people who can withdraw from sensuality like that. I tend to get really out of touch with my physical self, but can't achieve a sense of being centered without it. The imagination can help fill in the void inbetween.

"INTJ Younglings" who would probably appreciate the frankness and the lack of condescension.

You know, good books can be very sensuous things, and a love of books can fulfill a sensual appetite as well as an intellectual one. If we consider books to be our friends (and lots of us introverted rationals get a warm glow from caressing the cover of a loved book, and leafing the pages), then it is not so great a leap for books to be apportioned the regard one might hold for a lover. If one is a lover of language and knowledge and beautiful pictures, but not too keen on human company, it seems natural that the literary relationship could grow to take the place of a primary human relationship. If you're happy, who can argue?
But don't discount good old biology and testosterone levels decreasing with age. It's mother nature's way of rewarding males for making it through youth alive. Now you occasionally get to think with the more intelligent head. ;)

Are you guys kidding? Heh, I can't help but feel amused/confused at the thought of people being offended by anything in this thread.

Plus, if the younglings need their fix for anything like that I'm sure they already know where to go. :P This forum is probably more tame than even the average forum.
Beautiful prose is one of the most wonderful things in the world. It's like candy to me. Even if a book is on a subject I would otherwise not touch, lyrical or otherwise interesting prose will cause me to read it. From my very little relationship experience, an average book is much preferable to the average relationship.

Hmmm... Is this the Raven Queen or the Ice Maiden? *[smiley=whip.gif]
Actually we haven't had the Freud p*nis envy discussion yet... *;D
Funnily enough though, most women when you ask them, don't want to be men... lucky. *

If I had one, I'd lose all respect for everyone else with one, which is a shame because I like men. I can really only think of one advantage to having one -- and that's the ease of peeing in the woods.

Yeah, I don't have any respect for men either, Its a competition thing.....
Sure it’s great for weeing in the woods... although women are pretty proficient.
The greatest attribute; if it’s to be believed, is the earning power of the mighty phallus.
How else is it that I earn more than an average woman?
*Ahh.. I'm drifting into my stir up the feminists at University routine* *:P :P :P

Paper Cone with a hole in the end.
Just ensure that it's long enough to not touch you.
@OBM: I agree entirely.

I saw these on the shelf at Barnes and Noble and considered buying them, but was a little too shy to take them through the checkout. I browsed through them and do like the healthy approach to the topic. w00t! The thread titled inspired me. 8-) I'll be careful to keep it under wraps. :-X

Somehow I'm thinking you'd particularly like to do the necessary. *[smiley=deal.gif]

Has anyone read the diaries of Anais Nin? When I read them, I feel "alive" again as a woman. As a person, though, I think Ms. Nin was a liar and a "cheap piece of goods." Let's just say she touches the feminine psyche as few others can.

Though I've read only a little Nin, I'm admire her writing. She has a way with words that no other author matches.

My husband could not go through the checkout at the bookstore with similar books either so I had to. Hey, we're all human and it's natural..right? lol.
Maybe they need an 18 and older section here on this board. ;)

I can't take Nin. Not sure why. She seriously irks me. I have no sympathy for her and her private life either.
