I'm curious, most of my two INTJ friends believe that they are god... and that most people are fools... they also believe religion was founded to seperate fools and money.
I've started a religion but never got around to bothering keeping it going. How about you?

My INTJ friend has started the areligion of apatheism, the principal tenet of which is that it doesn't matter whether or not there is a God or a purpose to existence. While I agree to some extent, I also think that there's no point to living if you don't do something with it, and I consider making even a small goal for yourself making a purpose for your existence. :P Apparently that's called existentialism, but I came up with that on my own before I knew its name.

Someone I knew once said that he viewed INTPs as the least likely to join a cult and the most likely to start one.
(Maybe INTJ falls into that category as well. INTPs more create their own personal practices, but would never ask for followers -- people would simply have to choose to follow them around and emulate them.)
As for me, I don't mind making up my own religion; and I can put the address of where to mail the checks right here in this thread, if there are any forlorn penitents out there in dire need of my blessings!

While I'm agnostic, I believe the power of God is in his attributes.
What admirable attributes do your friends possess? Sounds like ego (which interestingly enough I see with the Christian God).
A coworker of mine said that I should start my own religion. While starting a religion can often prove profitable, it would be foolish in my case. It would require...
1. That I KNOW what I believe
2. I care to inform others about my beliefs.
3. People want to know what I believe (and follow it).
I'm all for revolutionaries, but I'm not up for being one until I've got #1 down.

Oh, this is EASILY resolved: Just make "doubt/ambiguity" one of your spiritual virtues! See? Easy!
Me! Me!
I've started a religion called "meism"
where everyone worships themselves.
I had a cooler description, maybe I'll post it if I find it.

oh yes, the holy trinity: me, myself and i. lol the intj motto: i know i'm drop dead-gorgeous and i don't want to state the obvious. i don't need to start a religion coz they already started one for me...
HAHAHAHA
i was accused of being a cult leader way back in highschool because i was telling a lot of people some stuff about nietzsche...i'm not an atheist fyi, i was just telling stuff about his writings. and to the literal sense, i got myself a herd.
In my experience the words "Religion" and "Cult" sound very negative, therefore I would never create something and call it a religion. Also, I wouldn't want people to mindlessly follow any kind of directions. Instead I would rather call it a "Follow your own path, but feel free to hop by if you have and questions"-group.

You started this thread just to advertise that, didn't you? :P
Meism sounds great, except I'd get everyone else to worship me.

I saw your question, and I thought about my answer, and I had to smile because somewhere back in the recesses of my memory, I believe I remember a time when I was young that I wanted to form my own religion. Isn't that funny. We're so independent, INTJs.

Yes I have and it involves dark chocolate... *;D
Starting a religion can be very profitable. (I think the Church of England could attest to that :P)
If you base it at your house then you can get dispensation for land taxes to boot... 8-)
Gobal climate change is a new religion..... ;D

Global climate change sounds like a good one, a religion actually based on science!

But religion is based on faith without proof, whereas science is based on faith in proof. :P So global climate change can't be a religion.

Hmm... I was being sarcastic about global climate change... more quacks espousing self interest. I'd say that a number of the scientists should become evangelists.
I’d be harsher if you were a J. :P

I have something similar to a religion of my own...but it's more of a philosphical dogmatic thing. It's called "harmony theory".Basically my philosophy is my religion!

I have never attempted to start my own religion. I have led several groups of like-minded humans about, cheerfully referring to them as my followers, though. At one point, though, I was having all kinds of fun with the idea of ethical egoism (sounds like meism, to myself, but then, I am not a large expert on that religion). Some acquaintances gave me the title of The Better Pope Of The Church Of Ethical Egoism. Quite nice.

I've written manuals for myself on how to find friends and girlfriends
Gimme gimme gimme :)
Wow thats very insightfull. I kinda believe in a similar thing but never considered putting it on paper. I believe there is fine balance in life which each person has to find for themselves. Each of our personality traits require a certain amount of attention. If you neglect certain aspects you will start to feel unhappy. I'm very much a thinker so I need to do a lot of that. From experience I've learned that I also need a certain dose of socializing to feel happy. If I neglect it I will feel unhappy. If I overdo it, I'll neglect my other traits and I also feel unhappy.

Santaism, the worship of Santa Clause. Ho ho holy is him, and his prophet Rudolf. At the beginning of times man would celebrate Rudolf's birth on the 25th and lament when they would receive coal in their stockings. We all evolved from reindeer too, most Santaites consider our holy drink to be Eggnog and our holy food candy cane. You cannot eat any meat that is wild game. When you die you go to the north pole and become a elf. Santa is telepathic, omnipresence and scientifically unprovable but how can you explain gifts under your holy Christmas tree? Jesus is another word for Rudolf the red nosed reindeer, and Yahweh is Santa Clause or one of his many names. The only Satan is actually Santa's evil brother Evil McBastard. Hell is actually being a mate to a yeti, in his ice lair. Ho ho ho! Santa's other prophets include the Easter Bunny, his daughter the Tooth Fairy, and he also invented Halloween to scare away fundamentalist Christians. A "bible" hasn't been written yet.

I haven't tried to make my own religion, but people in my home group started calling me god. It's useful because when I say something, people listen, as well as giving me the win in any situation which involves voting.

Meism sounds good. Except its Youism to everyone but me (I'm the you, if you can't figure that out).
