View Full Version : How do you shave?
This one is for all you boys and girls out there. How do you shave?
I've always shaved using an electric razor. I more or less copied that behavior from my dad and stayed with it ever since. Previously the Phillips shavers were my favorite but today I find the Braun types more thorough albeit it takes a bit longer. I also shave ever other day which seems sufficient. I’d rather shave once a week but my boss gets a bit cranky when I do. A beard is neither an option because hair grows only in flocks on one side… :-?
So what are your shaving preferences and experiences?
Don't be hesitant to include any pictures to state your claims.

I usually shave every other day, as well, when I remember. I'd let it grow if I could, but my workplace also despises it. oh well. Also, I don't have a full beard, for some reason. Not cool. Just a scraggledy mess. I have employed water and disposable razors directly after a shower, but I recently bought my first electric shaving device and have been waiting for my disposable things to run out. They have. Friday, I am totally going for the creepy electrical thing. Will I electrocute myself? Who knows? ::)

I normally shave one a week or so. I can get away with it because I work in IT. I'm pretty lazy about it though.
I prefer just your standard disposable razor. I have an electric, but because I'm lazy about how often I shave, it tends to pull and be painful.

I do a dry shave but not electric. I just grab a razor and start carving the stuff from my face. It doesnt hurt any more and i can actually see the progress that is being made. At least this way i dont forget half of it.

I'm the only one that voted hybrid so far! I shave electric if I just shaved recently and I don't want to spend the time to wet shave. I wet shave when my hair has built up for several days and I want a clean shave. Electric can give clean, but only it there is like two days of hair at most--after that the wet is usually where it's at. How about you women? ; )
Shaving is for the Sensing crowd ;). I use just water+razor and I do it only when I see a girl. Otherwise I let it grow and cut when it starts to itch, in a few days.

Wet shave, in the shower, softens the whiskers and is more efficient in cleanup and time. I also Navy shower. Uses less resources.

What, no girls responding? *Am I the only girl here that shaves her legs?? Come on!
Wet shave, simply because I like the pretty flowery shaving gels that they make for women. :D Plus, it's easy clean-up in the shower.

I braid my leg hairs. And of course my armpit hairs. I'm trying to make a statement.

wet shave. I tried electric once but it didn't work.

Electric mainly, but also "wet shave" on occasion - though I don't use shaving cream, just hot water.

As testerone is sluggish, I am able to shave dry with a razor if I shave every day, shave with just a bit of warm water if every other day.

Shouldn't you shave before you see a girl?
Or do you have one of these handy rechargeable razors and jump around the corner to shave and then move into action? ;)

Wet shave my face.
Electric shave my head.

A little water and a razor works fine for me. It's simple and it's quick.
"But OMG LOL You need ultra smooth cool touch shaving gel!!!!1! Don't you get razor burn?"
No.

I shave using soap and water. Easy-peasy.
When I'm not trying to impress anyone and/or I'm wearing long pants, I don't bother though. It's not like it's a matter of hygiene, and I like to have the quickest morning prep time possible.

When I need a quick shave I use the electric. When I have time I'll pull out the razor and shaving cream. I tried to grow some facial hair once, it just looked like a bad scrubbing brush.

Nope, no thanks. No shaving for me. Disposable razors are a hazard to your health... unless you believe in the health benefits of blood letting. Gillette must be a really good company to invest in because they charge $15 for six razor blades and I'd get razor burn anyhow. And, my Norelco electric razor seemed inefficient at best. So I use the same Wahl electric razor that the barber uses to buzz your hair to cut my own hair and beard. Trim my hair and beard once a week or week and a half. I hate shaving and I'm not quite sure how I made it through life without a beard in the first place. :)

Shaving legs dry is ouchy. I can't even imagine shaving dry armpits!
I rarely shave my legs though... it probably happens like 10-15 times a year, heh. It grows there naturally, and it's not bothering anyone if I wear pants most of the time, so why bother?
I have a beard and use an electric trimmer on it once every week or two. I shave with a razor, dry, or with some water on it (after I rinse it out and shake it off). Shaving cream never really appealed to me and I have never had any interest in wasting more time and money on shaving crap. One must shave around a beard fairly regularly to keep from looking like a bum...

I shave my entire head in the shower. Usually every third day, when I'm going to work. I'm mostly bald anyway, I just go full throttle. I use a disposbale razor and by keeping them dry after each use I'm able to use one for a month or two.

I cycle on roads so have to shave the legs once a week.
Shaved legs help clean up cuts and scrapes.
It's a major hassle 'though. Think of the shower scene in the film "Psycho", with dilute blood washing down the drain... every week.

Haha. I'm fourteen! I don't need to shave! Lucky me, eh?
I got tired of shaving

That made me recoil, literally.
Oh, and for the record, I shave my legs about once a week, and I use inexpensive men's shaving cream. I hate the flowery/fruity scented stuff for women and have always preferred "clean" or "fresh" scents that come in men's shaving cream. Other areas I shave as needed, and go the same shaving cream and disposable razor route.

i don't get wet shaves. electric is quick and efficient and even if it isn't as smooth (bullshit), i still prefer a little stubble anyway.

I don't. When I did, I would use a little water and a razor.

I use the same razor head until it is so old it doesn't function (because I am cheap). Then, I put a new head on my razor and my legs average 4-8 cuts. I don't wipe the blood off or bandage it; it's most efficient to just let it dry and clot, and then later hose the legs down.
Actually, In my continual striving for efficiency....
I considered getting all my facial hair done via electrolysis...
NEVER to shave again... how cool... extra time snoozing in bed each day.. a massive payback.
But it seems that hair (below the skins surface) actually helps repair skin damage and so forth...
I kinda like shaving though... its a bit like mowing the lawn... but on a smaller scale and indoors... *Getting new cut grass aftershave, could be taking it a bit far though*

Dry electric. I should shave everyday, but it's usually every other. It just starts to itch like crazy after 2 days, and by then it's a pain to shave.
None of the above. I have always dry shaved with a disposable razor.

I use a "nice" I guess $80 or so Braun electric razor that is re-chargable and self-cleaning. There are some things we will always have to do and shaving is one of them. Investing in a quality shaving system seems wise to me. With most things though, I spend the bare minimum required to get the job done.
