Say you could change to another MBTI type overnight, what type would you choose?
Personally, I would pick ENTJ. Being an INTJ seems to have more drawbacks than advantages, which is probably why only 1 or 2% of the population resides in that frame of perception(because it sucks). ENTJ's don't seem to be any less successful, confident, or inventive, nor do they sacrifice people/communication skills or capacity for intimacy in exchange for whatever it is INTJ's think they are going to gain out of having an insentient, lonely life.

I'd be an INTJ.
Hopefully an INTJ without ADD. I just want to complete a project.

INTJ might work better if more people were INTJ's. Perhaps a few hundred/thousand years in the future it will be that way. Being a bit more vague, I'd say NT is the way to go. F and S are primitive functions. I think E>I, but one should have a healthy balance between the two.

I'm not sure I'd want to change personality types completely. I would like to be less introverted so I could enjoy parties and get-togethers a little more, though.

I'm not sure all this theory that "E's" are more social is actually what its about.
I could be very social if I desired to be. But time spent socialising is time not spent thinking or working on "my projects". In a trade off I prefer my time for myself.
If I was not very bright and if I liked all people irrespective of their intellect/attitudes and everything else I could be out every night.
So, I'm a little dubious about real ENTJ's. (I'm close to boarderline) But the real ENTJ's will use their thoughts in a social context more and I'd say be more prone to playing the politics in organisations for advancement rather than actually doing the hard yards.
The best type to be is a xNTx with the ability to migrate around. And thats a function of socialisation and just learning about everyone else.
I bet if INTJ's were analyzed over their lives they'd probably go from INTJ to more xNTx as they got older.
Ugh the only thing about INTJ-ness is the OCD in combination with the ADD,
When you have a crap load to do, you can't just focus on one thing. You have to see which to switch to if you're behind schedule and rearrange your priorities. It always gets me in trouble when I get into a project, and I have a test b/w the start and the end of the project. On the other hand, while I'm doing projects, I get distracted by cooler things, so I do things slowly. It's so frustrating.
I might pick INTP or ENTJ/P... or simply less T because the over thinking screws me over too.
Essentially, I wouldn't choose to be anything else... just more balanced.

I'd be slightly more E. But not too much. Maybe a bit more J, too. I rather like my type as it is. *;D

I didn't mean I wanted to be an "E" by that statement. I just meant I'd like to be less introverted. I enjoy parties, I enjoy being around people, and I can be quite social if the nood strikes me, but I get very worn out very fast and I'd really like to be able to hold out a bit longer rather than needing to escape after a couple of hours.

That's exactly how I think/I feel I am right now. I think a well developed INTJ will have the capacity to understand and more interestingly act as if he was a true ENTJ, INTP, INFJ, ENFJ. I don't know about you but I've certainly reached this state and I am only 25 ;-)

Being more E is a function of confidence. AND surrounding yourself with like minded people. I'd say that a number of introverted INTJ's would become very social with a crowd of INTJ's. In fact a lot of I's get more outgoing when they go to college/university. Also, the smart INTJ's as they get older start acquiring a status through their achievements. The Geek at school runs a company and has a future to look forward to... Outgoing jock is just doing manual labour. (Not that I have anything against blue collar workers.. that’s my family background).
I'm not sure about "P". To me, MBTI is a nice 16 type matrix.... I think the P is pretty weak as a differentiator... To me a "P" is just a disorganized "J". OR is closely aligned to the spin off from "N & T".
Nup, I wouldn't be anything other than my iNTj, As before, you need a certain amount of J to get results from systems and you need to be I to develop the T and N to the level that makes you better than your competitors... or go beyond the current thinking.

Since INTJs get a bad rap for being cold and nerdy, do you ever wish you were another type?
I like being INTJ. I would not want to be any other type.
stuntgp2000, I know exactly what you are talking about. I am the same way. I can call upon the other NT functions when the situation arises. I'm 27, but i developed this when i was around 24-25. Naturally i'm pretty introverted, but i know how to get along very well in the Extravert world.
Also what others have said about being more social around other INTJs or NTs. I'm very outgoing and talkative when i'm around like minded people, but when I'm with people that have interests that i'm not into i would rather not be there, than try to relate to their interests. They won't relate to mine, and it is easy to see this when i start talking about something that interests me. Their eyes just glaze over or they just just change the subject back to their own interests. That is very annoying. If they payed as much attention to my interests as i do to theirs, i would not have a problem, but things need to be fair!

There's every once in awhile when I think, "Maybe I should be more extroverted, vain, fashionable, shoppoholic, less nerdy etc" then soon after I think, "No, then I would hate myself." Well hate is probably a strong word. But I wouldn't like myself. Then again if I were a different personality I theoretically wouldn't know this personality existed and wouldn't think like this personality would I?
I probably think more along the lines of, "No, that's just not me. I wouldn't like myself."
Cold? It has its advantages. You don't have to deal with people if they don't want to deal with you. Plus you're less likely to give a damn if people exclude you/make fun of you for being nerdy, etc.
Nerdy? It also has its advantages. Think of all the shit you know that others don't. How cool is that? Heck, IMO Nerds are the superior species. Everyone else is just afraid of nerds.

I've never wanted to be a totally different type. There might be some elements of other types I'd like to incorporate more into my personality, but I'd never want to change. I'd never be able to live with being just another shallow douche bag...
When I was younger I used to maybe want to change myself a bit more, but now I'm mostly happy with my self. Don't get me wrong, I have a ton of things I want to improve about myself, but I mean I'm happy with my general disposition and personality. And I've learned to basically not care at all about what others think.

I don't really think of myself as a type. I say to myself "I see this ability/characteristic etc. in a person/thing...I'm going to get that too." And I do it : ) I'd say perhaps the hardest part might be making that ability/characteristic/etc. 'your own,' when you are no longer mimicking it or copying how someone else does it, but have integrated it into your daily base.

Overnight? Hmm...Maybe an ISFP since it's slightly related to how I am but also different so I could get the most out of it at the moment than say if I were to do ESFP--but who knows?! maybe ESFP would be better for some unseen reason? hmmmmmm

I would become my opposite - ENFP. Then I'd dye my hair blond, wear blue eye contacts and get a boob job!
Just joking of course. I don't want to change my basic personality. I'm unique...just like everyone else. LOL. I just want my personality to age like wine...getting better over time.
