View Full Version : Gender Distributation of INTJs
Because it's been said that there are more male INTJ's than female INTJ's
I'm wondering how many people are male and how many female.
Another one of my need to see stats. (remembers age group thing)
Sorry guys :-X
I wonder if this thread will have any discussion at all... ::)

Statistically, I think there are more males (as with all T preference mbti types) and it looks that way on the forum so far as well.

As for the T preference. *The F preference in females... evolutionary advantage???

Crap. Sorry for blowing your cover ;)
As for the T preference. The F preference in females... evolutionary advantage???
Makes sense since females are generally supposed to be primary caretakers. According to this page (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.), the split is 60% male, 40% female for T preferences. Out of all the types in their sample, male INTJs make up 3.3% and females are at .8%.

According to that, we have a disproportionate amount of female INTJ's on this forum. Too bad we can't make all of the members take the poll and see the actual numbers.

Here are the 9 members I know are female: me, Rei, Firelie, The Rose, deixified, TeleportThis, optimisery1973, polenka, TheFreeThinker
Some of the most active members on the forum are female, which may make our numbers seem higher. I assume that most of the other members are male unless they say otherwise though.

OneBadMother is female, but INTP.
Funny you mention FuturePerfect. S/he was originally on my list. BUT I double checked, and couldn't find anywhere that s/he clearly mentioned being female. I didn't want to list guesses. I was basing it on her (his?) attitudes toward chivalry and women sounding traditionally female, having a more feminine writing style, and a female avatar. My guess is still female, but I was waiting for explicit mention of it by FuturePerfect.

Maybe the females on the list are more used to trying to be somewhat "E" - - work or social pressures and such? *I can speak to that being true for me; I have no desire to schmooze [I have no idea how to spell that] or make nice with social small talk in group settings at work, and yet the push for that trait in women in my profession is pretty strong. ::)

Interesting note: "intj female" is currently in the top 5 current search engine keywords for the forum. Wonder if this has anything to do with the high percentage of females here?

INTJ Female is something I have definately searched for as well as INTJ Forum. Still can't remeber how I got here though - when in research mode I use every search term I can think of... That might make an interesting topic...

Definite male here - not sure I have ever met a female INTJ because part of me thinks they would be a perfect mate though not the most healthy match. Why can't we each just do our own thing and then have dinner and enjoy getting twice as much done?

I think more women have the F tendency basically because its what they need to be good at in an evolutionary sense. Offspring aren't going to survive to maturity if the significant other isn't bring the catch home, you can't get on with the others, or you don't care too much for your children.
Guys are more T basically because in order to source limited resources there's going to be some conflict going on, if you're not that smart you might just get a spear through you. Besides, don't women just flock to the guy with the huge lump of mammoth meat? (I mean this strictly in the context of hunting for prey ;D)
Anyway, thats my last post for today... its been fun... night peeps..

Because it's been said that there are more male INTJ's than female INTJ's
I'm wondering how many people are male and how many female.
I think it can be harder to know who the female INTJs are because society places an overcoat of expectations on female communication which is expected to have a stronger emotional flavor than men. Online I have noticed that women who identify as INTJ tend to be stronger Ts on average (imo) than the average man who identifies as INTJ. In short what I am saying is that it makes sense to me that many women who identify as INFJ could be INTJ and some men who identify as INTJ could actually be INFJ. External communication styles can be arbitrarily altered culturally to mask natural thought processes. The two types share dominant Ni and can therefore look much more alike than people often acknowledge.
Of course this is just a hypothesis. ;)

Entirely possible. I don't have very many "friends" I'll show my full T because... most people will start to think I'm weird. A lot of the time, in social events and such I have play an ENFJ to reduce frequent awkward pauses. :-/

Same here - I have to fake a little F sometimes. However, I don't really care if people think I'm weird. I've gotten over the attempt to pretend to be normal in situations. So I generally act INTJ.
As for social events? What are those :-?

Okay, I guess a more accurate way to say it is people just cease to follow my train of thought, which in turn defeats the purpose of socializing.

and give us some kind of protest option.
Wish I had more info for you but I have heard that the 2 most rare types when calculated for gender are INTP females and INFJ males. So Im just guessing that being INTs, INTJ women will be rarer thatn their male counterparts.

But the title of the thread is gender distribution of INTJs. Why would the poll be about something different than the thread title? Do we really have to say the same thing twice? If it wasn't about INTJs, it would say "gender distribution of our members". Are you trying to stir up trouble? *;)

Actually I asked my female neighbor way before about the myer's briggs. She did comment this to me: I have been told many times, in many ways that I am not like the other girls. This is so true, after taken the test she was a female INTJ. Which is nice too know because it is rare to find one. Man, should do more some of my INTJ homework and come up with some conversation topics; since we both are now opened-minded and not afraid of express our own way of thoughts. Darn it, this felt like a trick question. in my mind, Whats the next topic should I ask?

Female.
There may be a disproportionate amount of females on this forum (compared to the actual male to female INTJ ratio) because I would think we are more likely to reach out and look for somewhere we belong. An INTJ male may be better able to get their needs met in the real world.
I know that's one of the things that brought ME here.

Male INTJ.
While this is an online forum, I suspect that females are less likely overall to spend much time in these places than males. It is, howerver, good to see that the gap is not too big between the amount of male and female intj personality type votes. Then again, not a big surprise given that this place is called the intj forum. :p

After joining this forum, I was (surprisingly) surprised at the number of Women here. Before coming here, I'd always had in my mind the idea that NT or rational types were predominantly Male. I presume this assumption was because I associated rational mindsets with Male dominated subjects such as Computer Science and Engineering at University.
Generally throughout my life, though, I have met far more rational Men than Women. If the number of Women is equal or indeed higher, does this mean that rational Women tend to cover up or withhold these traits from view more than Men do? And taking this further, could I have actually already met more INTJ Women than I thought I had, without actually knowing it?
Now I find myself questioning, why did I even allow myself to think this in the first place!?
Anyone care to shine a light?
