Just wondering what INTJ's think about these statements and if you agree with them:
1. If you don't have expectations you're never disappointed.
2. You think work will be like university but it's not, it's highschool all over again.
Just pondering...............

Most things are true to a certain extent, especially if you're not opposed to bending reality to fit a point of view.
If you don't have expectations, you'll also always be surprised, which is a fate far worse than disappointment if you ask me. :p Or on a more serious note, something about not having direction or something to work towards could make it harder to achieve anything. I'm not sure if I totally believe that, but I'd imagine that there's at least a few grains of truth to it.
As for work being like education, I think that would depend on where you went to school, and what characteristics something has to have in order to be like something else.

1. I am with Elston also.
2. I was told that work is not any easier than school in general. It's just as stressful and hectic, but in a different way. It's true, but it also offers a change. Learned different things. Applied some of what you learned to real life. In the end, it's what you make of it.

Isn't that an expectation itself? To give you an opinion, I don't agree with the statement. I don't think it's possible to not have expectations. I'd rather a general rule something along the lines of "don't have high expectations or don't depend on them too greatly, and the occasional disappointment won't be as effective".
2. You think work will be like university but it's not, it's highschool all over again.
I sort of agree with this one. In a university there is a diverse population of students which for rotate in and out just about every other year; each of whom has a different goal to achieve. At high school the students pretty much all stay in the same school system that they were in for earlier education and there is a common goal: a diploma. Likewise, at most jobs there are many employees who stick around for quite a while and there seems to be a common goal.

Try: If you dont expect anything out of anyone, no one will ever disappoint you.
Dont torture yourself by not giving yourself expectations
I think INTJs are generally hardwired to expect things, plan things, categorize things. So I think advising them to not do such things is pointless, goes against their natures.

Without expectations or hopes, nothing gets done. INTJs are known as planners, and while planners have to plan for contingencies (which requires a degree of cynicism), this view is overly cynical for INTJs.

The university is more like recess between High School and Work. Some important things are accomplished but its a whole lot of fun.

That's quite an assumption. Who said that anybody wanted to get anything done? And is that even possible anyways?

The thing that comes to my mind is that hope isn't necessarily an expectation. It's a hope. If a hope isn't fulfilled, that can lead to disappointment.
For number two, I know work won't be like college. I've already done both. It's not like high school, either.

1. Without expectation, there's no excitement neither. It's a double edge sword.
2. If you pick a profession suited to your personality, work will be a breeze. I wouldn't trade it for either high school or university.

1. INTJ's set high standards for themselves, and they often externalise that to others. It IS an expectation that WILL be disappointed. It's about re-adjusting what you expect of others, rather than writing them off altogether.
2. work is as varied and as myriad as there are dishes of food in the world. Infinite variety.
