Sometimes I think that we might be getting a little one-sided, what with all our in-depth analysis and philosophical posturing. It could be time to plumb the other end of the spectrum.

To this end, I have started this thread to give us an opportunity to post our least interesting mirco-stories. One paragraph tops... and nothing that anyone would care about.

I'll start:

Yeah! The "parallelism edit" is a provocative innovation I have not observed elsewhere. Freudian? Certainly. Existential? Perhaps.

INTERESTING?? Without a doubt.

My Journey
by Monte

I went to the store, and picked up some... whatever. Prices were about the same as usual. Then I came home.

--The End

The 'whatever' is a bit interesting. I would have suggested 'Twizzlers'. But that's just a nitpick. Overall an excellent starting example. So don't blame yourself for some of these stories!

By the time I finished the chapter, I was very hungry, so I ate. It turns out I had forgotten to eat breakfast, so I ate breakfast for lunch and lunch for dinner. Dinner would have been too late, so I went to bed.

Love the repetition. Very mundane!

I woke up, sit in front of my computer, played games, surfed the Net, doodled some on my notebook; then I felt immense boredom, so I slept.

Edit~ I edited my story because of faulty parallelism.

Poor story structure and weird spelling/grammar. Remember it's supposed to be boring, not annoying. The edit note completely spoiled the rest.

hmm are my toenails too long? (testing scratch against other foot) can kind of feel it. does it matter if they're a little long? I suppose there are some edges. I might damage some socks if I don't cut them but, that would mean going up stairs and finding the toenail clippers and it's so hot here. I'll just try and remember to do it later.

This is not a story and is therefore disqualified.

It's 10:30 and I have to get up at 3:00 AM, I still can't sleep. Oh well I guess I'll be tired tomorrow.

Also not a story. Lose.

Woke up this morning, felt knackered and slightly ill. Decided that if there was no change for the bus on my bed side table, I wasn't going to work. There wasn't any. Laid in till 11, got up, contemplated not being at work and my future. Spoke with a financial advisor about mortgages, and then went for a nice walk round the shops in town. I have effectively time travelled, I now have 3 hours left before my normal routine recommences!

Started off good but there are some pretty big things in here all in one day. Maybe you're a high powered lawyer or something and this seems mundane to you. Satisfactory though!

I wanted to prevent the room from getting warm so I turned the fan on the floor on. I set it to the medium setting because I didn't want it to be too loud. For some reason I didn't test how loud the high setting actually was (not my fan, you see), and when I realized this I tried it out and was pleasantly surprised how quiet it was.

Perfect!

I once had a cat that I named Franklin. I thought the cat was male but it turned out to be female. I never changed the name.

Too funny and interesting. See, you just wrote it in a boring way, but this would normally inspire a good conversation or yeah, at least get a good laugh normally.

I've been feeling guilty alot for the past few days, mainly because I haven't been getting work done. Instead, I'm wasting time playing lousy computer games. I have dreams for my life ahead, but my every action now which plays a big part in securing my future doesn't exactly reflect anymore than an average job in an average office, earning an average wage, with an average wife. I do not wish for this. I must harden my will against laziness. I will be indefatiguable.

Dreams? Direction in life? Existential crisis? GET BORING FRIEND!

I woke up to the sounds of my Korean neighbour shouting about how his pet spider monkey Zolulu won't learn to cook his daily oatmeal or nightly porridge.

Did I do it right?

You're kidding.

Creative but totally pathetic and unsatisfying. Good job!

An optimist buys a new hunting dog which could actually walk on water, pleased with his purchase he decides to take his pessimist friend hunting to hear his reaction.

They fire a duck falls the dog runs out to retrieve it the dog walks on water only getting his paws wet, this happens several times. The pessimist watches this without saying a word.

On the drive home the optimist unable to stifle his curiosity turns to his friend and asks, notice anything unusual about my new dog?

The pessimist responds, I sure did, your dog can't swim.

Sorry Neuro, your response just made me think of this, enjoy.

This is a common female speech pattern. My wife refers to it as "noun loss."

Have you ever noticed that when two women are working together in a kitchen or garage sale or the like, one will say something like: "Put that one over there by the other"... and, magically, the other woman will know *exactly* what "that one" is, where "over there" is, and to what "the other" refers? I refer to this eerie power as "estro-telepathy". *ducks fearfully*

[*whispering* and they use it to cheat at charades!]

Then she tries this voodoo on her husband who is completely baffled by this nounless-but-relative-pronoun-rich lingo, and gets mad at him for "not listening to her". Sheesh!

So, I find deepdelver's story *incredibly* interesting.

I think this may stem more from the aspect of being equally experienced in the kitchen. Experience is in play here!

Bowls nest together, glasses go in the same area, the ingredients go next to the preparation space, etc.

Hours passed and I found myself growing tired as the sky darkened, so I left my desk and fell asleep on a bed.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Exclamation marks? Come now, they smack of excitement.

Here's how it's done. Watch and learn.

"I'm sitting here at the computer with my robe on, it's red by the way which happens to be the colour that most people attribute to my family, and also something I got for Christmas a year ago, or was it two, I'm not sure but I do know what store it came from because I was in that same store and saw a robe that was just like it except in another colour. Anyways.... oh, wait, I should remember to wash this puppy soon because I really like fresh robes when I get out of the shower because of obvious reasons, I mean who wants to get out of a shower when what they're putting on isn't so fresh, which reminds me that I have to replace the towels in the bathroom and google mildew because I think I left a few towels in the washers too long one time, was that a few months or years ago? Not sure, but boy those towels sometimes smell not so fresh. Anyways.... "

Walked back, half asleep with a gallon of milk in my left hand, and was set upon by a dog. I kicked at it and it ran away. Then I made my cereal, and got on the internet.

How average are wives? A wife at all might mean this paragraph is too interesting for this thread. :)

Dear Admissions Board:

I am writing on behalf of Dante Failing.. um sorry that would be "Falling"... Ms. Falling was a student in my class entitled Chaucer's demented Choices (English 499) and Shakespeare's Tragedies at the University of the netherworld. Her writing exhibited a unique ability to strike at the core of the thematic concepts and to weave a tapestry of ideas into a cohesive and insightful framework. I recall her paper on the moral importance of thought versus action as depicted in the interim periods going from Hamlet to Macbeth. Her analysis across significant bodies of work was unique in its ability to relate dispare concepts and to explain Shakespeare vision and themetic core.

In terms of class partciaption, Ms. Falling was keenly aware and very insightful. She seemed able to say in three words what other students would take novellas to relate. I think Ms. Falling would do extraordinarly well in your academic program and would be a credit to the academic and/or discipline community after she graduates.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me. Oh... By the way... she was never actually convicted of the incident with the Knife, the clown and a bottle of vodka.

I walked back to my computer, and drank it as I sat on the couch, comfortably scrolling down webpages on the large computer monitor in front of me with my toe on the arrow keys, getting myself over to the keyboard to post if I saw something interesting. Then, I sat the empty cola can down on the table next to me. An hour later, I went to the bathroom and returned. I repeated this series of actions several more times that day, until the table was full of cola cans. Eventually, my mother saw how many there were, and took them to the trash can. About this time, I fell asleep.

Who'da thunk it. Raw cashews (I mean right off the tree raw) have a similar toxin to poison ivy. They need to be boiled or steamed to get rid of the stuff or else one gets a rash like I seem to have on my wrists. So the 'raw' cashews in the store are not really raw. The cashew tree looks nothing like poison ivy or poison oak, but it sure does act the same.

I just stir fried tuna and okra with garlic and spices.

I'm now eating it with bread.

It's good.

Today I picked up a piece of firewood. It was very wood-like. I threw it in the pile and that was it.

I walked the dogs, or more along the lines of 'pooped' the dogs. My favorite one grabbed a big branch and ran with it. It was cute. I think this counts as twittering. Tweeting. Twitting.

I saw a spider in the shower today.
I was a little concerned and thought I might check the data on brown recluses but then the shampoo got in my eyes.
It was painful.
When I finished whining and looked around the spider was gone.
