Just curious to see if there is a 2nd type that most of us here identify with the most. Please note that I'm not asking if you are borderline. You can be strong in all of your preferences for INTJ. I only want to know which of the types I listed you share the most traits with.
I'm also curious about those of you that are borderline or have mistyped yourselves before, so share your stories!
INTP...
I've toned down my need for things to be so solid and final. Probably because I've been hanging out with a lot of P's and I'd probably go nuts if I didn't get more flexible.

I think I described my closeness with infj in my introduction post. But I have low percentile t and j values and I swing depending on what I'm doing.

i lot of people think i'm a p because i can easily decide on things happening on the spur of a moment but then, assumptions also are a big help when creating contingency plans so everything has already been pre-structured. just like when we go outdoors coz there are times when trails have been eroded by mudslides which is possible what do i do? plan a: take another route... and another... if not accessible take a map and compass create another route. else, abort climb

INTP
With personality traits I have the most in common with ENTJ's without a doubt. My wifes best friend growing up is an ENTJ and I can see many similarities between the two of us. We always had different beliefs and views on things, but the structure of how she thinks is very similar to my own. The extroversion is off putting at times and terrifying, but ultimately hilarious when out of control. As I'm slowly making myself more extroverted I see even more similarity's between the two of us. Although I'm trying to avoid yelling like she does, because I don't like yelling, it's too loud. I haven't related to too many ENTJ's, but the similarity's are there for me. The biggest hint was our judging function where we both have a hard time admitting we were wrong, it's just the worst thing in the world being wrong.
What's with ISTP? That one doesn't fit the others in the list because it switches two of the preferences.

After reading this page (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.) claiming that ISTPs may mistype as INTPs or INTJs because they are so similar, I just wanted to see if anyone would actually choose it as their runner-up.

interesting article :) it helped me understand my "switch" from ISTP to INTJ. in the past, i used to sway between those two, but now-like majority of everyone here-sometimes i'm labelled as INTP. i think i'll always embody some ISTP characteristics though.

As a runner up I have more INTP traits but I have not ever tested INTP. I did once test ISTJ. Typically my weakest scores have been s/n and j/p.

I can't believe it, but I had to vote ENTJ. I have equally developed Te/Ti and Ni/Ne and if there is anything I am not it is a P.

I think that I have to pick INTP as the type that I share traits with. My lowest percentile is J and I think that a little bit of P peeks through from time to time (no pun intended).
Edit: OMG! I saw the votes! We're P-ing (pun intended) all over the place. That explains all of the activity in the forum - we're a bunch of closet INTPs! :-/

ROFL
Thanks for the laugh.
I definitely relate best and can be ENTJ as a secondary persona.
To be honest I can flip the I/E and J/P pretty easily.
The main reason I stay to the I is more that I like time to think by myself and my thoughts are not clouded by discussing them with other people until they are all assembled into reasonably robust shapes.
On the J, well, to effect change and keep it from entropying you need to have rules and regulations. Efficient action requires standardisation.
On the whole I see "I" people as weaker (physically) and its less in tune with my "achiever" type 3 personality. So, my closest person is someone who uses both body and mind. ENTJ.

I would like to claim INTP as my second because I hate when people cant see the possibilities. However, honnestly I'm closer to an ISTJ than and INTP. Not only because N is my lowest score when I take MBTI tests (from what I remeber), but also I can get absorbed into the details if the circumstances are right and I always HATE being made to make a decision quickly.

INFJ
I'm borderline because I worked on my type development at some time. Now through exploration of growing other functions my thoughts just lingered and developed into those areas. Perhaps those who do the same may find similar results.

Not that everyone else isn't nice but this sounds similar - and the only other person who ticked infj. I've worked on my improving my type my entire life (forced to fit in with everyone else, I turned it into a positive and made it a game). Even over the past 5 years I've become so much more than I used to be (becoming completely aware of my surroundings as a bouncer) and it's only just the beginning.

I used to type consistently ISTP 2.5 years ago. Then I came across NLP and it changed my life. My understanding of myself and how to deal with others has increased significantly. I now type either INTJ or INTP on tests but no longer ISTP.
Someone else here mentioned that he/she types INTJ for business related activities and INTP/ISTP for other areas. I thought about this and it's also true for me. But when I get back to work :) I tend to become more INTP'ish.
Edit: typo ISTJ -> INTJ

At least now we know half of them are INTPs just waiting to be drawn out. :P And the other half are ENTJs, which are a-okay with me.

I have this same thing, and it's caused me to type as an ENTP before. It depends on how the test was set up to score. However, I plan and strategize and organize way too much to be a P, and it only gets worse as I get older.

Eh, the only thing that is very concise is the NT. Everything else depends a lot on my mood.
I'd have to put them in this order, from most used to least used.
INTP
ENTP
INTJ
INFP
ENTJ
I seem to share traits from many NT types:
Bored when dealing with mundane routine
Value knowledge and efficiency
Project-oriented
Enjoy generating ideas and theories
Creative and ingenius
Bright and capable
Flexible and Diverse
Excellent communication skills
Enjoy debating issues with other people
Self-confident
Decisive

INTP, we are like a constructacon when we are together. 2 of the strongest functions, Intuition and Thinking. with and INTP and INTJ together you have all four, Ni, Ne, Ti, Te. Unstoppable.
Roughly half of the time i am tested as ENTJ, 40% of time tested as INTJ, and the rest tests show me as INTP......a bit confusing to take MBTI tests too many times.

INTP, I test about dead center or only slightly more J on J/P. From what I understand, a strong J is too black and white for me and a strong P is too chaotic for me. Of all the temperaments, I appreciate a good balance on this one. The next one for me would be ENTJ. In unknown situations my default is I, but I love social events and I am often seen as an E.

Compared with the mainstream INTJ, the borderline S situation seems to make me less phlegmatic, less driven, less abstract, more down to earth, and more cautious. I'm okay with that

INTP...
I've toned down my need for things to be so solid and final.
I'm also borderline INTP. The first time I tested it was INTx, although subsequent tests have all come back INTJ. I've found that I have less of a need for things to be solid and final than many INTJs, which I think is a good thing. :)

Wow. Somehow, I tested as INFP. Um....no. I answered as honestly as I could, but every description of INFP I can find does not sound like me AT ALL.
"INFPs do not like conflict, and go to great lengths to avoid it. If they must face it, they will always approach it from the perspective of their feelings. In conflict situations, INFPs place little importance on who is right and who is wrong. They focus on the way that the conflict makes them feel, and indeed don't really care whether or not they're right. They don't want to feel badly. This trait sometimes makes them appear irrational and illogical in conflict situations."
...huh?
Anyway, I often test as ISTJ. I think I've mellowed out a little and I'm not as anal as I used to be (I used to only test ISTJ), but my sensing score is pretty much even with my intuition score now.

I got both ENTJ and ISTJ's before, but I personally identify more with the INTJ profile and more results yielded INTJ anyway.

I'm an --NT--. I scored ridiculously high in the Intuitive and Thinking categories. There's no way I could ever be a Sensor or Feeler - my scores in those categories are very low. I am mildly more Introverted than Extroverted - I'm am Ambivert if anything.
The P/J divide is the truly troublesome one, though. I've taken variations of this test several times and usually score as an INTJ, but last time I scored as an INTP. My scores on the Judging/Perception axis are very close. I don't think I'm either primarily a Judger or Perceiver, I'm very much a centrist.
So you could say that I'm basically an INTj/p who ocassionally displays traits of an ENTj/p.

ENTJ. I'm naturally an I, but have learned to be more E over the years.
