I couldn't find a suitable category for this topic. Does anyone else have unusual but fascinating hobbies, mine is an interest in ... wait for it ... bricks! Three generations of family involvement in this area has something to do with it.

You definitely have a flair for creativity and sadism, social torture, ever thought of a career in politics? (8-}

Once upon a time, when snail mail was more popular than it is today, I used to make figurative art with postage stamps (and construction paper as background).

I'm also a nudist so I guess I could add nude swimming and nude hiking to the list.

The queen would be pleased to know about her contribution to your abstract art activities. Sorry if I assume you are from the UK and I am wrong about that.

There's a man in the UK who goes nude hiking. He does nobody any harm but they keep arresting him. Take care.

Canada, so we're still stuck with her. And yes, she did contribute to some of my stuff.

He probably wants to be arrested. I'm pretty sure he could find some places and times of day that would allow him to not ever meet anybody.

lol - I gather you're not a royalist then. Being scottish myself, I am a bit of the same mind. No harm to her, but ... moan moan moan. I have three cousins and their families dotted around canada. I would love to visit.

... well, I can hold my own in BS contest. I'll bring dueling back to the USA, it will solve all the US's problems... it sounded like a good slogan to me.

Besides, I am immune to losing my morale... I can't be driven crazy because I never had a sanity to start with. I guess it's got something to do with being born on a day that the sun refused to shine... well I was born at 11:30PM.

The only problem is, is that I can't run for president yet. I have to be at least 35... I'm only 23... Cursed!

I'm not sure how unusual or facinating it is, but the kids and I enjoy geocaching.

Shouldn't geocaching sound like geoduck, i.e. "gooey caching"?

I prefer car rallyes. In my part of the world, it's usually a combination of these types (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.)of rallyes.

Just to show how thick I am - what is this please?

I enjoy psychologically based role-playing-games(RPG). They are are similar to D&D, but go much more into focusing on real life situations, and pushing one's own psychological boundaries.

People hide small containers with a visitor log and sometimes tradeabe items in a variety of places and post their coordinates online (here (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. It's fun getting to the coordinates (some are in interesting places that can be hard to get to, some are in pretty common locations) and finding the cache (some are hidden very well or disguised as everyday objects).

I can ride any motorcycle, if I can touch the ground. I Like to take the boat out with just the girls... cause we don't need a man. I wear a backpack while on my jet ski, inside I keep a solemn course I can set up on the water in 5 minutes.

One of my hobbies is going through the internet and searching for information on a subject of choice: Two weeks ago was astronomy.

What Axion004 said, I like learning things. Now I'm teaching myself Python (To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 2 or greater. Thanks Warrior. I just found notes on a trail that had been followed and solved next to a canal near where I stay. I loved orienteering when I was at school but we did it the old fashioned way. Sounds like it could be challenging stuff and I bet it's good for a laugh too.

My husband and I have recently delved into lapidary. Who knew rocks were so much fun? Hoping to make a career out of it someday.

Based on the verb "lapidate", I figured lapidary had to do with stoning people. Stoning jewelry doesn't sound so cathartic, but at least it's legal.

I like to get stoned, then carve stones. Takes hours to make anything at all, yet it's rather relaxing work and very satisfying when you finish something.

My hobbies fall under intellectual and non intellectual.

Intellectual: Studying different scientific disciplines (at least at the layman level). Studying economics and getting a better understanding of trends, mostly for investing. Learning new languages (a little Spanish and Tagalog right now).

Non-Intellectual: Surfing, Paddle Surfing, Cycling, Kite surfing, snow boarding, Yoga, mountaineering, scuba and free diving.

I guess drinking and maybe dating on a rare occasion.

My main "unusual hobby" would have to be speedcubing. Basically solving Rubik's cubes and similar puzzles as quickly as possible and with different restrictions (one-handed, with feet, blindfolded etc). Have been doing this for a bit more than 3 years.

Other than that, I have a huge interest in languages and linguistics. I've never been able to stick with one language for long enough to get good at it, but I do enjoy creating my own languages (conlanging) and have a few of them that I'm working on a bit.

And of course there's a general interest in anything science-related. ;D

Total respect JasonK, I have never heard of someone creating their own language before
