I've noticed that several members are very health conscious so that got me thinking of that Subway spokesperson Jared and their campaign promoting Subway sandwiches as healthy. I know that it all depends on what you put on a sandwich that determines the health value of any sandwich, given that, the question still stands.
Do you have a favorite sandwich? It doesn't have to be from Subway, it doesn't have to be healthy, it can be any kind that you like from the old American stand by the PBJ or a simple grilled cheese. Dagwood to hero, clubs or Phillies. You name it, What kind of sandwich do you like?

I think the best sandwich I have had was a ham, provolone, and pickles on pumpernickel with mayo and mustard. It was the first thing I had when I started eating pork again back in college. I had cut down to poultry as my only meat for the previous seven years. I ate several of them that week.

BLT. It's a good, honest, all-American sammich. I Google "BLT recipes" daily.

Must I select only one? There's a rotating cast of favorites for me. Most notably:
Prosciutto di Parma, mortadella, and fresh mozzarella on a focaccia
Hot open turkey on rye
Hot roast beef, melted pepperjack cheese, and horseradish on a roll
Jamón serrano, manchego cheese, and olive oil on a baguette
I've also been known to enjoy the occasional croque-monsieur.

Mmmmm...I love sandwiches!
My favorite since I was little is hard salami, real American cheese (Not the processed, pre-sliced junk), and Veganaise on a sweet, grainy whole-wheat bread. It has to be cut diagonal.

Healthy (well kinda): Wholemeal doorstop bread-buttered with Ham, onions, cheese, relish and brown sauce.
Severley unhealthy: Thickly cut bread, buttered with cheese onion, ham, fried bacon, fried sausage, pudding and a fried egg. I call it - THE HEARTSTOPPER

I think my heart stopped just reading that one.

oh, i love sandwiches also
at subway; the italian BMT with swiss or pepperjack on herb 'n cheese with mayo, honey mustard, pickles and extra black olives
at home; a ham and cheese (american, motzerella, or swiss) on 2 slices of bread with a little mayo and A LOT of mustard (i really, really love mustard)
or a plain roast beef hogie and cream of mushroom soup... i love dipping the sandwich in the soup... it is the best ever, ever (i learned that from my stepdad, a Cajun cook)
oh, there are many more...
Roast beef. I could eat one everyday for lunch.

Except ditto.
I don't generally like sandwiches because I prefer hot food and I only like well-made bread, not the stuff commonly served in the U.S. that is called bread, lol.

Wow, I guess I'm pretty simple compared to a lot of people here.
Peanut Butter and Fluff. I love that. But it's so unhealthy that I can only have it every once in a long while. :(

I just like ham and cheese.
I also enjoy a good peanut butter sandwich every now and then. You need a lot of milk for those. :)

Whole Foods roasted Turkey sandwich on honey wheat bread. Ask for the tomato basil spread and have them add mozzarella, avocado, spinach and roasted red pepper. Get it toasted. An amazing and healthy sandwich (well, not counting the cheese). Okay... I'm hungry now.

Roasted turkey on a bagel, with some of my homemade mayonnaise, bread and butter pickles, a touch of mustard, pepper jack or muenster cheese, lettuce, and some banana peppers, slightly dripping with pickle juice.

How could I forget fluffernutters? I used to eat those all the time. Ah, that takes me back.

Whole wheat bread (real whole wheat not colored white bread) and sharp cheddar cheese toasted to a bubbly crispness, topped with butter lettuce, heirloom tomatoes thickly cut sweet onions.. dressed with mayo, stone ground mustard (or whatever variety I have around EXCEPT yellow mustard) and pickle relish.
I can live on this. it's not terribly balanced though so I don't.
how can you have a favourite sandwich....? or even 3....
what i wanna eat depends on the mood i'm in and the day i'm having - sometimes i "feel" like meat, or fish, or high-fat, or low-fat....
american sandwiches though.... they're on a whole other scale from the UK... they practically make business-trips worthwhile, all on their own.... you guys don't know how lucky you are.... :)

You guys are making me so hungry!
My favorite is tomato, fresh mozzarella, and avocado on sourdough bread sprinkled with some basalmic vinegar and fresh ground black pepper.

Sounds like I win for the highest fat content most unhealthy and at least for me one of the best sandwiches ever made. Drum roll please...... Grilled cheese with grilled ham and crisp bacon. No veggies no condiments just bread cheese and meat, you can just feel the arteries harden as you eat one or two.

I fucking hate Subways. I don't like their sandwiches and for some reason I find it complicated to order anything from them because somehow, they always screw up my order. Once I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and they gave me a plain tuna sandwich and tried to convince me that's what I ordered. Also, I don't understand why they have a menu because when I try to order stuff off it, they keep asking me what I want in it. Shouldn't they know what's in a such-and-such sandwich?
Anyway... I love a simple, homemade turkey-cheese-lettuce-tomato (occasionally with mayonnaise and pickles) sandwich. Made with Oroweat whole grain bread. And some sandwiches from Quiznos are pretty awesome, too.
